Not very available, but will answer emails timely, a bit aloof, no feedback except the final paper, GREAT text, the best text I have seen for any education class. Easy to write papers after doing the readings.

The syllabus sounds scary and strict but it is actually meant to discourage slackers from sticking around. This way the professor actually gets to read your good papers. I freaked out when I read the syllabus but when my buddy who is a teacher read it she laughed and said that this is meant to help the "wrong people" drop the class in time. A+Class

His email are terse and pointed in tone to the point of being arrogant. Prepare to write a lot of papers and not do much else. If you can take another professor, do so. Students that pay to go to a class that ultimately counts toward a graduate degree really deserve better than a supposed professional that is difficult to work with.

Absurdly bad online class. Literally nothing to supplement lectures, no interaction with classmates, just writing reflections on textbook readings (which he returns an hour or two after submission with no feedback other than 'you preformed adequately'), and generally terse and unhelpful over e-mail. How does he get away with it?

I feel like the people who praise Dr. Z believe the purpose of school is to get an A. For those of us who wish to learn and apply our knowledge -- not simply jump through 5,000-word hoops for a grade -- we suffer. If you want to experience grad school in 1940, take Dr. Z. Overall, disappointed with most of Educ and Alt Cert staffs at UCM.

Took this class online. It wasn't bad. Didn't have much interaction with Dr. Zelazek but he was very nice. If you're not a self-starter then you might find the course difficult. I felt his expectations lined up with what's expected of a graduate student.

Hard class and a lot to accomplish for a true grade of A. You will appreciate it only after you have taken a deep breath, completed a self-reflection about how much you really did, and then decide that he pushed you to do your best even if you did not. If you "screw-up" it is your fault not his, accept the responsibility fo your own performance.

I had him for 2 online courses. He was pretty easy since all the work consisted of reading the chapter and writing a response based on your own opinion and comprehending the material from the book. He gave good grades if you showed you had some kind of grasp of the material and could write a proper essay in APA. Easy and I recommend him.

WORST TEACHER EVER!!! COMPLETELY WORTHLESS CLASS!! APPEARENTLY HE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO ORIGINALITY AND HE CAN'T COME UP WITH A LESSON PLAN ON HIS OWN SO HE JUST HAS YOU WRITE PAPERS FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER!!! BY THE TIME THE CLASS IS OVER YOU WILL HAVE WRITTEN ALMOST 90 PAGES AND YET STILL WILL NOT LEARN A DAMN THING!!!! WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!

I did okay in this class, but he does grade very heavily on grammar, spelling, APA style, etc... Even how many words. If you're a good writer and just do what he says, you'll be fine.

Excellent---high expectations that tend to piss you off but life has high expectation. Make sure you follow directions. A lot of reading, writing, and a APA. Teaching is a lot of fun and he supports you throught the full system provided that you do your part. Great teacher
