Lecture heavy and BORING. WORST professor ever. You won't learn anything in her class. She can make you hate film...

She takes weeks, if not over a month to grade homework assignments. The tests are also more difficult than the class should allow. You are expected to remember the most miniscule details from the textbook. Stay away for your own emotional health.

I took her in spring 2014. The pros of film 200 with her are that the many quizzes, essays, and extra credit assignments allow more opportunities to offset any poor grades. The cons are that the essays are not only harshly graded but are returned with little to no helpful feedback. The final exam never got any feedback. Just the grade.

Mandatory attendance for a 4 hour class that ends at 10pm. No thank you. Film could be interesting but she won't let it be that way. The only good thing is she's so lazy when it comes to grading, she only let's us type 100 words per response. Don't take Film 111

Professor Joi Car is Great! Most people are disappointed in that she is a very challenging and difficult professor, since they often take her classes expecting a breeze-through film course. She is very knowledgable and you will learn a lot!

Her class is not a simple literature class; rather, it is a stream-of-thought & asinine set of lectures marred by an inordinate amount of outside reading/preparation. Prof Carr prides herself on laurels of past awards & "expertise", and expects such work from you despite lack of instruction. TLDR - she has high expectations and sucks at teaching.

Dr. Car is a very sweet professor and makes herself available to students. However, I found Film 111 to be a bit difficult and time consuming. I recommend participating actively in this class, reading the book thoroughly and paying attention to themes within the movies.

She's very passionate about film. but most are taking it as a GE requirement. About 60% of those who show up for the lecture part of the class leave during the break before the film. But, she gives out extra credit a few times people who stay. She seems irritable at times. This class is 4 hrs long at night, so avoid if you like sleep.

Professor Carr is a nice woman, but she gets very impatient and it really bothers me. Her lectures are confusing and she assumes that everyone understands things she has never taught us. However, the only test is the final. You do online film and chapter responses which are almost always easy 100s. It's an easy way to get the fine art requirement.

First hour and a half is spent on discussing and going over the chapter and the second half of the class is spent watching the movie. Participation is a grade but is difficult because it is in the Elkins. You must read, take a timed quiz, and write a relfection before class. The reading and quiz is very difficult in my opinion.

Dr. Carr is very passionate about film and, as a result, is engaging, but she puts far too much information on the lecture PowerPoints. Her quizzes are easy but her tests are difficult, so make sure not to be lulled into a false sense of security by the quizzes. Overall, though, she's a good professor. I enjoyed the class.

stay on her good side and speak up in class. This is key to getting a good grade. I was excited about taking this class in the beginning but as the semester went on it became a burden. Shes very nice but not helpful. I enjoy film but did not enjoy this class.

I have taken her multiple times. She is extremely nice and caring. If you have a personal issue and need an extension on a paper she will give it to you. She will also not give a quiz if she feels the class is unprepared. However I would say she doesn't really teach much. I could do a better job than her.

Great material covered in its diversity. Professor takes a long time to return assignments and does not give much verbal feedback, however, her grading is fair, she knows her subject inside and out and as a plus, classes are discussion-based. (She doesn't shut her students up and believes in breaks.) If you need praise, don't take this class.
