Jon Breiner is the best professor that I have ever had. He genuinely cares about all of his students and will do anything to help anyone. He explains things very well and in different ways. He assigns a fair amount of classwork and homework so you have plenty of grades to balance. Keeps class interesting and grading fair. Definitely recommend!

This guy is awesome! He makes Chemistry easy and tolerable. He gives you everything you need to be successful in the course. Textbook and workbook needed for the class are pretty pricey so maybe split the cost with someone. He also cares about the subject matter and that shows.

The tests are very hard in this class and are usually all extended response. Jon is great and is always there and caring when you have a question. This class is a little slow paced and often boring but hey, its chemistry.

He is very helpful in class and tries his best to explain everything. The class before each test is dedicated to reviewing the material and answering questions. He provides the workbook online to be printed out, which definitely saves money! If you do all your work and study hard, you can pass the class.

I took the 5 wk summer class. Very fast paced. Go to class and SI, take notes, study PowerPoints, and you will do fine. Don't get be wrong, chemistry is a tough subject, but his clear explanation and willingness to help, makes him a great prof, and the class doable . He gives lots of study resource material. Strongly recommend!

Took him for chem1040 in the summer , which was a one month course and was easily one of the best professors I have had. Cared about the student grades plus he was willing to answer any question we had. He also had a generous curve at the end of the semester for our final exam and grade in general for the course.

The guy is great. He's personable and approachable but is terribly disorganized, or at least he comes off that way. Grades are almost never posted in the accompanying lab and its hard to get a straight answer out of his main TA Ben H. I wouldn't avoid his class, but I would refrain from asking the TAs questions and ask them straight of Jon himself.

Jon is extremely nice and helpful. He goes out of his way so that you can fully understand the material. I would suggest him as a professor if you are or aren't good in science. He is exactly how a college professor should be.

Easy to get along with, hard tests but if you study what he tells you to study and participate in class its not so bad. Also very easy-going and easy to get along with.

Jon is very smart, but unlike other smart professors who just talk and talk,he makes the material learnable through simple examples. he taught me to understand some of the most complicated things in very unique terms...and trust me I suck at chemistry. I recommend him to anyone who thinks they have no chance at chem...he really has a gift.

Excellent teacher. Has more office hours than any I've met. Also does podcasts for those of us who don't want to go to class. Always answers questions in class, and his tests are easy as long as you do the work. I never went to class or did the work and still got a B in it. Very fair grading scale, and focuses on the students a lot.

Dr. Breiner has made chemistry so interesting and actually comprehensible. I had Dr. Thayer before and it was hard to just stay awake. I got an A in Thayer but my knowledge base felt shaky so I switched to Breiner. I had heard he was better but better it the understatement of the year. He actually put things in a perspective you can relate to.

He is wonderful. He has a fun, approachable personality, and will readily admit that he has to get back in touch with that feeling of 'HUH?' that us 1st year students encounter with this class, as he has taught it for a decade. He has passion and creativity in his instruction. Having a harmless crush on this Prof only makes class easier to attend!
