Great Professor! Makes a solid effort to keep lectures interesting, and cares for students. If you study for quizzes, put in the work doing outlines, and pay attention in class you'll have no problem getting an A! Also, he gives many opportunities for extra credit.

Jon filled in when one of my professors had to take a leave of absence before the semester even started- I was nervous about the switch but couldn't of been happier with the outcome! Very easy and kind.

Professor McCarthy is a very high quality teacher. His upbeat personality and inviting humor creates a wonderful learning atmosphere. He may seem strange at first, but he's a genuinely warm soul. He roles with a pretty traditional teaching style; the class itself is not difficult. Simply paying attention will net you a good grade.

Jon is one of the best professor's I've ever had. He has restored my faith in teachers. Jon cares about his students and is very understanding. I took this class as a required social science and I certainly don't regret it at all. I was nervous at first, but Jon showed me I had nothing to worry about when it comes to his class. Would take again.

So nice and brilliant and inspiring. He is a great teacher and an amazing, encouraging person. I am so glad I got to take a class with him. I would recommend that everyone takes one his classes because you will learn so much and he is an amazing teacher and person.

Probably the best professor that I have ever had. Incredibly kind and genuinely cares for his students. I love his style of teaching, I was never bored in his class. He's really funny and the class was ridiculously easy.

Professor McCarthy has easily become one of my favorite professors. Although it was only an online class, he really showed his caring side and helped everyone in any way possible. He puts his students before anything and in my opinion that shows a lot of character in a professor. I highly recommend taking his classes if it's possible for you.

I took Criminology online, as well as Intro to Sociology with him. He's a fantastic professor, very easy to get along with and very approachable. Homework and quizzes were cake, and if you got a certain grade on the tests, you didn't have to take the final! I've also used him for professional references. He's awesome!

As an early college admissions student he has helped me out exponentially. Not only is he a great professor but he is a great person, his lectures are always entertaining and intriguing. He makes the class very manageable, I would highly recommend doing the worksheets and handouts it makes information more comprehensible and goes hand in hand together.

Not just an awesome prof, but a great person too! Really wants to see everyone do well. His notes in class(homework is to fill in these note sheets from book prior to class) translate directly to test material. He'll go the extra mile for all of his students and is always very understanding and willing to help. Keeps class entertaining!

Jhon was by far is one of the BEST professor I will ever have! He is so clear and concise with everything that there is in my opinion no way you can not get a good grade in his class. It is a shame he only teaches a few subjects. I highly suggest him for anyone looking for and extra class to fill in blanks. He is funny caring & realistic Guy!

People are not lying when they claim this professor is the best one at SUNY Adirondack. Professor McCarthy is extremely helpful and kind; he always wishes my online class well both in life and in our class. If you ever need help with anything, he will surely respond to you ASAP and will provide a detailed answer. Nicest professor ever!
