Professor Shumway is a good professor, but his lectures tend to drag really long and he enjoys talking. Like a lot which can be a downfall if you need to finish up on your project. He also flatout tells you that he refuses to give anyone an A for midterms and you are graded by roughly eight assignments. You really have to work for the A.

Terrible. He's redundant, dry, and states the obvious. He doesn't know art, he just makes up stuff you should do to your art. He'll stare for five minutes and then state: "You should add an arm from the side and add a ton of contrast for visual clarity." And he'll outright tell you he will not give anyone an A for the mid-term.

This was my first art class and it was a pretty easy class. Critiques were painful for me since I have trouble sitting and listening for almost 3 hours. Classes go by fast though when your focused on project. He's a pretty cool guy and is helpful.

You learn photoshop and illustrator. Its easy but the double class periods wear on you after a while. The critiques are long and very boring. I feel asleep a couple times. Easy A if you do the drawings. Can only miss 3 classes I think. Take this if you like easy As and can handle 9:30 - 12...

Extremely easy class. Just show up and put in good effort and show interest during critiques. Its a little painful listening to him talk for 3 hours especially during the critiques.

Shumway is great. He's always willing to help every student especially those who ask! He really knows the programs & knows how to help you improve. I've had him twice & I'm taking him a 3rd time next sem. He's not an extremely hard grader but you really have to try HARD for an A! critques are long& sometimes pointless &thats the worst part of class

Great guy, knows a lot. He has wonderful project ideas, he's willing to help you with any problem and he takes his job seriously. He loves what he does and it makes his class nice. Highly recommend him.

GREAT PROF!!! on of the best in the department. they down side are his lectures. they tend to DRAAAAAG...and for a 3 hour studio....snap time...but he's a fair prof and is a hands on sorta guy.

Class with Shummy Shroom was always fun, relaxed, and educational. Most of class was left for free time, but occasionally the trip. pd was spent in required class critiques. Still informal and fun!
