Comment:

Very laid back we only had a final, but he told us not to worry or sweat the final...he lied...worry and sweat the final. He snuck a curve ball in there when it came to the final. It wasn't as easy and laid back as he lead us to believe. I much rather Nici's style of teaching. There were no surprises with him.

Loved his class, very related after a hard session with Nici.Made me want to listen to music,and gave me a much better understanding of what its all about. ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS IN QC,no midterm, one paper and in class final.QC needs more professors who love their job and love to teach, not just get by to get a paycheck.Irving you rock

Comment:

One of the best profs at Queens College. He plays the part of "good cop" to Prof. Nici's "bad cop" in their pairing as co-instructors of the ACE Art/Music seminar. His passion for music is contagious. By the end of the semester you'll be a huge fan of Gregorian Chant! Lots of info on Mozart and he shows the film "Amadeus", which is very good. A+

truly one of the nicest human beings around. By the end of the semester was surprised at how much I had learned. Because of his relaxed teaching style you learned in a unstressed way. Now I understand and truly enjoy classical music.

Never thought I would become a classical music fan, but his guy did it for me. The viewing of Amadeus was very enjoyable. I am even adding Mozart CD's to my collection, and Beethoven and Vivaldi! Never thought an opera could hold my attention, but now I understand so much more. Go for it.

He teaches in a way to attract you to the subject matter. He loves music and he doesn'tforce the subject matter on you. He gives it you in a way that asks you to give it a shot. I enjoyed learning and came away w/a new appreciation for the music.

Highly recommend this professor. He and Prof Nici have a great working partnership for ACE Art and Music. You can see that Prof Irving LOVES what he does and wants to impart a love and knowledge of music. Pay attention and listen to the assigned music selections and you will ace the exams.

Comment:

Co-teaches Art & Music Seminar. Very passionate about classical music, especially Mozart. Seems annoyed when questions are asked. Enthusiastic, not boring. You can tell he dislikes assigning papers and giving exams. Easy grader.
