really passionate about what he does and cares for his students, I enjoyed this class and him as a professor but the class could've been structured better. Having a paper due at the end of the semester on top of a final exam was a lot, plus heavily assigned readings. More grades such as a midterm/quizzes/smaller assignments would have been good.

Dr. Karp's lectures are fairly dry and the readings can be tedious, but he really cares about every student in the room and loves what he does. Always receptive to questions and open to everyone. Get to know him, the class will become way more interesting after he's schmoozed with you for a bit, trust me.

Comment:
Probably one of the worst classes I've taken yet only because of the structure of the lectures. The class itself is not very engaging because new material is frequently introduced and the readings are difficult to keep up with. There are not many assignments given but the material you have to work with is dry. Lectures are long and excessive

karp is not a good professor. he knows his stuff really well but his class is awful. the tests are impossible to do well on unless you write exactly what he wants to hear. other than that the class itself is very boring and pointless to go to unless you take very good notes. don't take unless you are interested in the subject

Professor Karp can seem boring to some people, but a short discussion on the material during office hours makes you more engaged in what you learn in class. Genuinely cares about his students and wants to get to know them. If you do the readings and participate in class, then you will do well. Extremely knowledgeable about the material.

Karp was one of the best professors I've taken at bing. This was my second class with him. Very smart and extremely knowledgeable, his lectures are somewhat loose in structure but he always writes down the important points he made and puts them on a review sheet for the midterm/final. Just pay attention and read! Super helpful, funny, and nice guy.

Karp was a great professor. This is the first time this class was taught so he didn't cover every topic but it was really easy. He gives review sheets for the two exams so they are easy. You don't have to do the reading just go to class, he only tests what he goes over in class and he does go over the reading needed in class. Def would take again.

The course matter and scope didn't allow time for in-depth analysis which many of the topics required to be understood. Lecture structure was a tad unorganized and expectations for semester paper (worth 30% of final grade) were not clearly explained. Review sheets for midterm and final told you everything you needed to know for the exams.

There's a ridiculous amount of readings to do. He has a tendency to ramble on with no structure so it's difficult to know what's important and what isn't. Also he doesn't tell you what's on the midterm and final until a couple of days beforehand.

He's a great professor who has a lot of passion for the subject he teaches. He can be a bit rambly at times, but if you keep yourself engaged, there's plenty to learn from. People try to wing it, and they end up getting Bs. Do the readings, participate, ask questions, and you can't help but be interested and the A comes as a result.

I did pretty bad on the midterm and first paper option (C+) but he worked with me on the final and final paper and helped me do significantly better. He gives feedback when needed and actually cares about your grade. Will help you and bump you if he feels you deserve it. Go to his office hours. He basically gives you the answers if you go.

Professor Karp was a very good professor. He makes class interesting and interactive. However, his tests are relatively hard and there isn't much you're graded on so it is pretty difficult to do well. He also assigns over 100 pages of reading per week.

Professor Karp is amazing! He is so knowledgable on the material he teaches, and is always available to help if you need clarification. As a grader, he is very fair, so if you do the work, you will do well. The only downside to his class is that there is a ton of reading, so you have to plan well.

Great Professor, fair grader, very helpful. Readings aren't that bad and he adjusts assignments if he feels it's too much work. Go to class, take notes, study and you'll do fine.
