He's a smart man that is passionate about his work. The lectures are packed full of notes, and there is a comprehensive assignment during each class period. The topics are taught well, and are constructive toward understanding chemistry overall. There is A LOT of information to synthesize though. Exams were tough.

While Professor Alia was a very approachable and kind professor, he seemed to struggle when trying to explain concepts to the class. He is very smart so a lot of his explanations were too complex for a Gen Chem class. The tests were somewhat hard but he is willing to meet with students and help them.

Super nice and really helpful if you ever have questions. Posts all of his notes online and his tests are all multiple choice. Also, if you're not a big morning person he's great because he works really hard to make class interesting and not drag. Some people think he's pretty silly, and he is, but I don't see that as a bad thing!

My favorite prof to date. AMAZING. All of his notes are on powerpoints. I'm sure he would have been great help, but he taught the material so well in class I did not need to ever go in to see him. A little quirky, but not boring. I understood chemistry better in his class then I did in high school. :)

This class is a general chem class. if you are interested in the material it is easier but if not it is difficult. Alia is a great professor and he keeps class interesting. He wants you to learn and is there to help. His teaching pace can be fast so be sure to review and ask questions so you do not fall behind.

Alia was an excellent prof for gen chem I. He goes over the material really thoroughly and does a LOT of examples in class to make sure you understand. Most of the material on the test he covers in class--I only ever used the book for hw. Then again, if you are not very good at chem this class may seem more difficult. Nice guy, lame jokes

His jokes made 8 am lecture much more interesting, or when he pretends to be an atom. Very helpful professor. Tests are based off of the lecture notes and OWL's. He answers questions ok, the tutors are A LOT of help! i'd recommend him.

I thought I'd like chem when I took it, but turns out I really don't like it! Alia seemed like a nice guy, but I didn't feel like he was too interested in helping me, personally. My tutor was wonderful, but I should have taken the class with a different professor.
