Comment:

Dr. Allen is one of the best professors at DCC. Honestly, it is a treat to be able to take one of his classes. His higher English courses require a lot of independent thinking however he is patient to help his students grasp certain concepts. You never want his lectures to end. I've found myself disappointed by every professor after him.

I thought professor Allen was a great professor. His pop culture class was the best class Ive ever taken and the most relevant. I actually enjoyed writing his papers because I got to choose what they could be about and were relevant to our culture today. 100% recommend!!

Professor Allen is a super nice guy. It's very easy to get involved in class discussion as the topics he teaches are rather interesting! He likes when students get involved in conversation and will listen to your thoughts. I would take another class with him, but he is a very tough grader on papers, as he will tell you the first day. Really awesome guy! He cares a lot about the subjects and his students. You definitely have to apply yourself in this class. He assigns a lot of papers and readings, a midterm and a final with a presentation. Would take another of his classes!

Dr. Allen is definitely the best professor I have had at DCC. He promotes a good environment for discussions and always gives good feedback. I regret not going to him to read over my papers before handing them in, but I just never had the time. It definitely would have improved my grades. He loves what he teaches and you can really tell.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He'd give the best feedback and was one of the first teachers to ever make me feel valued as a student. He created the confidence I have in my writing. He's really passionate about what he talks about and that's what made me want to actually go to class. Definitely one of the best.

I find Dr. Allen extremely helpful and such an amazing teacher. He's intelligent, he knows what he's talking about. I would take this class over and over. The best teacher I've ever had at Dutchess without a doubt! If you have the opportunity to take his class, do it without hesitation!!!

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. You miss a lot of analyzing if you skip class but the discussions are so great you won't want to skip. You don't feel like you're in a class, he really gets the students and will push you to do your best. Very encouraging. Very easy to talk to and communicate with. If you can, take Dr. Allen!!

Dr. Allen has got to be one of the most intelligent professors @ DCC.. He is enthusiastic about his and his students work and is super easy to work with, especially if you seem more than interested in his course. The workload is fair, and quite easy for anyone who can pop a paper out in one day. I would recommend him for any ENG credit.

I have Dr Allen for a writing class. I find him to be interesting and super helpful. He gives great feedback. You do need to attend class .Each class a lot is covered and he doesn't accept electronic assignments. If you aren't in class with a hard copy you are losing points.

Loved his teaching style of using documentaries. 4 total essays given throughout the semester. The whole class works together to brainstorm ideas with each essay. And it's always fun to participate even if your shy. He uses an online chat to see what each and every students opinion is. He's simply an amazing teacher.

Great prof.! Let's you know in your essays what you should work on. Showing up to class is imperative as your participation is a major part of your grade. The more you speak in class the better off you are. Chooses great topics to discuss and the reading is very reasonable. Don't read and you wont make it through the class

Dr. Allen is an amazing professor. He is very thorough and specific. You won't want to miss a class but if you must, make sure you know someone in class you can e-mail to stay on track. He is not like the other teachers at DCC. He chooses to use documentaries as essay topics instead of stories which can possibly be a positive but he seems to choose boring movies to write about. he is a difficult grader. you cant miss more than 2 weeks of classes or you fail no matter what.

I took pop culture and it was definitely my favorite class by far. Mr. Allen is a great teacher and extremely helpful/friendly. The material and text books are already interesting as it s but he helps make it even better. I would take this class again if I could!
