a proffessor like this makes me want to go to school. always willing to help he makes one feel like you want to do good and if one failed him then we would feel like we dissapoint him. i feel bad for those that will never have him. my older brother wen to uml 10 years ago and told my about this proffesor and he's still the best in the school. :)

I graduated last year from UMASS. Prof. Garreau was one of the most caring, creative and ambitious teachers I've ever had. He found a great place for my internship, where I was hired (the following semester) and am now doing very well. I wish him the best when he retires;it will mean the loss of a great intelectual asset to the community.Au revoir

Quite a nice person to get to know outside of the classroom. Always willing to help you after class, and makes small jokes occasionally to lighten the monotony of the work. Hard to understand sometimes since he can talk a bit fast, and he does go over test prep. and h.w. a bit hurried, but all around wonderful man. Sad that he will be retiring. :(

dr. Garreau is the BEST.. took his french cinema I nad II. alot of analytical writing. you learn alot. I heard he is retiring. UMASS Lowell is going to loose an expert in langauges and a skilled teacher of diversities. he has been an awsommme servant for 4 decades at UMASS LOwell. he is a HARVARD MAN..

I have taken French cinema and cinema across cultures. Dr. Garreau is simply the best. He is very enthusiastic and helpful-as long as you attend class and write the papers you'll do great. I highly recommend taking his class ASAP because he is retiring in July 2007. He is a great professor you don't want to miss out on.

I've taken over 3 classes with him. He is the best! A wonderful soul. He is very interested in what students have to say and welcomes criticism. He is one of the best profs at the university as well as a kind and gentle (also very open-minded) person. Highly recommended.

I have taken 2 courses with him and two more next semester. He is awesome - I didn't need a book for 2 of the classes. His final was a takehome. On Tues you start a film, Thurs you finish it. Very interesting and easy to keep up with as long as your attendance is good.

One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. He'll do anything to help you pass the F.L. requirement & gets extremely enthusiastic when you semi-try to learn the language. Copy answers from the back of hte book, bring htat to class, and study it for tests-you'll do fine!
