Comment:

What a passionate professor who knows his art so deeply. He is not easy but the man is very kind. You learn graduate level in his classes. He introduced me to modern art and the reason why I know so much about it. Get ready for museum visits and to analyze art like you never did before. If you want an easy grade, his classes aren't for you.

Comment:

He's brilliant and he really knows his stuff. However if you're not a major or don't have any background knowledge in art history, he can be confusing/overwhelming, as his lectures tend to be high-level and disorganized. He's the nicest guy and will help if you ask for it though. Only midterm and final, decent amount of reading, a few short papers.

Professor Masheck is a very intelligent man who is passionate about art history. He is more than willing to help you if you are having trouble, however he goes on long tangents which are often hard to follow. He gave us a handful of papers, as well as a written midterm and final & never really specified what the papers were supposed to be about.

Great professor. He is very passionate about what he teaches and also knew a great deal about the subject matter. Disorganized at times, but if the subject matter interests you, shouldn't really be much of an issue. Any questions were answered fully and clearly.

Professor Mashek didn't even tell us when we had the midterm. he's a really crappy professor, never makes anything clear or simple. he goes off on tangents about his wife all the time, we really havent learned anything. i dont suggest taking this class unless you have to. he also gives a decent amount of homework, but tests dont relate to anything

I took Dr. Masheck for an Honors College Seminar and I am so glad that I did. Dr. Masheck is incredibly brilliant and it was always a pleasure coming to his class. Our discussions were inspiring and sparked my interests. Dr. Masheck is kind, witty, and offers great feedback. I look forward to taking his classes in the future.

I loved this class but understand why others didn't. He is an incredibly intelligent man and isn't afraid to show it which throws a lot of people off. If you can get through his overly-academic jargon there is a lot of interesting information. I read the book, wrote the papers and got an A. Easy if you show up and listen

I had Masheck for Form I and II and the Senior Seminar. The guy is a genius. He's entertaining, intellectual and thoughtful. He has taught at Harvard and Columbiaâ€"he's a blessing to Hofstra. The key to success is in the analysis. This is more like a social science course than an art course, except for the subject matter. His linear approachâ€"genius!

Somebody needs to put this guy on medication to keep his head on strait. Dont bother bringing a pen to class cuz ull never be able to take notes that make any sense. Only take if your an art history major, other than that, avoid at all costs

The worst professor I have ever had. He teaches the class like it's a grad course. If you do not know about art you're not going to do well. He is so confusing and unclear, but he is very nice. I dreaded this class because his lectures are all over the place. Horrible-horrible-horrible: DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
