DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is about 90 years old, talks super slow and class is extremely boring! He has an unfair grading system! His first test was 4 questions opinion. Based on the book we read and he gave me an F! No number grade just a letter. When challenged he gave the option to retake, I didn't want to risk it I dropped the class.

Likable professor who knows his stuff about history/philosophy. Goes off on tangents often and isn't the most concise guy around, but his class is overall easy and he doesn't assign much work. Three tests and a thought paper which are graded fairly.

WORST PROFESSOR I have ever had! Stay away from this guy's class. Lectures are long, boring often unorganized and meaningless. You need the text books old editions are fine. Grade is base solely on exams (4). He is a tough grader and all around just is not a good professor Trust me, don't take this class. Class average was a C-

NOTES TEACHER GAVE IN CLASS WERE NOT CONSISTENT WITH THE BOOK. TEACHER WAS VERY UNCLEAR AND ALL OVER THE PLACE IN LECTURE. GAVE IMPROPPER INFORMATION FOR EXAMS.

I found him extremely unclear. I took him for the spring semester. the first few classes were cancelled one because the school shut down due to the snow and the other four or five he had cancelled. Very unclear and no one really got his jokes. the only plus is that he allowed us to use our books for the tests.

Greap professor. Gives great lectures & makes history interesting. Tests are all essay and you have to know the material, but he gives study guides. He wants you to do well. If you take notes and study you will be fine. Not the best to respond to email or responding and he is slow to give back test scores..but Take him ! He's good.

It is extremely unclear what he is looking for out of you, and when you ask him he likes to dance around the question a lot. Talks about things that seem unrelated to the material. There is no homework or quizzes. Just three tests and the final. The tests were open book, but open ended opinion based answers.(So not very easy)Wouldn't take him again

he seems like a really nice guy. he is willing to talk to you whenever you need. but his class was dull, he had unfair grading system, but a bonus you don't have to show up to class, ever. and you will still get the same grade as if you did show up. he is a nice guy, and an easy A.

An excellent professor who clearly knows what he's talking about. Tips for this class: Skim the reading material but let him lecture before you read the chapter. His lecture is chronological and he chunks everything important into bullet points. Knowing what he deems important to learn helps you decide where to focus when taking notes from the book

I found this class to be long & boring at times. Information written on board no in class sheets to refect on subject dicussed in class. To develop a better concept of retaining the chapters taught, reading the text & class notes clearly were required for a more sound understanding of this history class. Exams need to be in deepth for a good grade

I found this class dull, and the professor unclear. I usually enjoy history and this class was a dissapointment. All he does is go on and on, repeats the same things for about two weeks straight, and then you have an essay test, that may or may not have the questions he told you were going to be on it. overall, disappointed.

Very interesting class. His tests are essays about how you interpret the material you read, but his grading can be harsh. He likes people to provoke conversations in class related to the reading material. Interesting class. Well worth your time.

Mr. McMahon is an awesome teacher. He is not very fair on grading, however his class, coping with life and death is extremely helpful. It's very nice to have a teacher who knows exactly what he's talking about. I'd love to take more classes with him.

I had him for ancient history, I found him boring, the class went by so slow. I love history but hated this class. Most of the time I had no idea what he was talking about, I did all of my assignments and read everything and showed up for every class. There are only 3 quizzes and they all consist of essays.He's really smart but sucks as a teacher.

BRING A TAPE RECORDER!! And make your notes from that. He likes to spice up class with life stories. Tell him if you heard it, he'll appreciate it. Make sure you draw all the diagrams he makes, and do the reading!!
