Piker is an awesome teacher with great lectures. Attendance is not mandatory - that being said if you don't show up, you will NOT do well. I took almost an entire spiral of notes in this class and received an A... not many people do though. Work hard, show up, be interested in the topics and you will do well.

Dr. Piker is one of the most brilliant professors at OU, but his class is not easy. We read 8 full novels (some were rather dry). He expects you to come to class ready to discuss. The best part about this class was that, upon returning our papers, Dr. Piker left a 3/4 page long letter detailing why he gave you that grade. Cares about his students!

Piker knows his stuff and it was an intersting class. He organizes his lectures well and this makes it easy to study for the exams BUT he doesn't actually grade any of our work. The TA's grade on a graduate level and are very harsh. I worked very, very hard and got C's so be ready to blow off every other class to impress the TA's.

He really knows his stuff. Very humorous and intelligent. As long as you attend class and take good notes the exams aren't hard at all.

You'll probably like it if you're a history major. Otherwise, probably not. It's a very difficult class when compared to other 1000 level courses, but I hear all history classes are like that at OU, so I recommend going to a community college if you're just looking for the credit.

Easily the best professor I've had. Exceedingly knowledgeable and articulate. Show up for class and do the readings. He's pretty good at sussing out the non-readers, and they don't make him happy. Highly recommended.

Piker knows his stuff, I made an A but none of my friends did. I actually took notes during the lectures though. Pikers a great guy and a great prof, i always see him at the health club too; and running down lindsey.

he gave the exact questions to the exams beforehand. he always gave extra questions that would not be on the test, but come on- if you wanted an A, you could easily figure out every answer and then you'd know everything on the test. great lectures.
