I had her for US History 1 and 2 at UMD some years ago, she taught a twisted version of history. She insisted that the US was racist when it dropped the bomb on Japan, her reasoning was that the Japanese weren't white. When I took issue with her views, she threatened to fail me. WW2 turned into a film on Rosie the Riveter.

I had her for geography. She was rude, condescending, and dull. She always looked tired and just put on a video most of the time. We didn't look at a map the entire class! She also told my entire class that I utilize disability services, which is unethical. I didn't appreciate being patronized for needing extra services.

Apparently she is a much different person in her Geography class than her History class. She is extremely rude and judgmental and just has a miserable attitude in general. Her test questions were often unclear, and she'd take points off for you not doing something you weren't even asked to do. I'm honors and could barely stand her and her class.

She was a very good professor, despite what people say, she was fair in grading, lectured, but very interesting, the people would didn't take notes, failed. But its college, be realistic, you act and perform like a college student, you will pass, she is very smart and deserves credit.

Do not buy the book, because you will not need it AT ALL. Other then that, she is a pretty good teacher. if you just copy down everything she says and read over the notes a few times you will pass easily!! She is very strict about cell phones so there is no texting at all, and she will kick you out if she sees you using it.

AMAZING! She was kind and helpful! I missed a class and forgot to email her and she had no issues helping me catch up. Classes were simple, lecture was crystal clear, she was very detailed. You have to study for her classes but I had a wonderful experience in her class!

This was a really fun class. All you had to do was take notes, and then take the tests which were really easy if you studied the notes. The book was not used and this class was really fun.

Be prepared to NEVER use your book! That being said, this is the easiest history class you'll take. Show up, listen and take notes and you'll ace every test. She only gives essay tests, but gives you 10 things she's lectured on and you pick 6 to write about, she takes the 5 best and that's your grade. Easy A! Only one paper to do.

Professor Ballard has a clear and definitive knowledge of both U.S. History and current events. She takes the time to make sure each and every student understands. Read your notes and ignore the book and you will get an easy A. Prof Ballard displays a deep passion for teaching history! I enjoyed her class and highly recommend her!
