Her lectures are epic. She's interesting and often very witty, but be prepared for the onslaught of reading that is often required of students in her classes. Her classes are interesting, but daunting. Still, she's there to provide guidance if you need it, but she isn't always super clear on what she expects. She's a fairly harsh grader, but nice.

Kollman certainly could have been a little clearer during lectures. She never really told us exactly what she wanted on papers or exams. However, she is very knowledge and super-interesting. Her lectures were pretty interesting, although she tended to stray off topic quite a bit. Still, she's very intelligent and wants her students to learn.

she is a pretty awesome professor, just really into her stuff and the things she really likes- she loves to ramble. our class grade consisted of 3 essay exams and 2 papers. a very interesting professor who is very knowledgeable and entertaining.

She is rather tough and does tend to run off on weird tangents at times during lectures. I had her for Chaucer and the Fourteenth Century. She would basically tell the entire class what someone's grade on a midterm was by reading essay answers off the exams, criticizing them and then handing them back to the specific student. I still scored an A.

I got an A in every class of hers I took: Saxons, Medieval, Bible in English, Chaucer...and I was a science major! All she ever wanted was a run-back of everything she said so her tests were a cinch even if they were essay exams.

Interesting but unclear. Tests are impossible. She writes more on my papers than I do. I'm still unclear about what she wants even after re-writing my tests. I got a worse grade the second time! I can't see ANYONE walking out with an A, and very few with a B! She's a nice lady but I'll never take a class from her again.

Thank God, literally that I am done with my English Degree. This was the only English class that I didn't get an A or A- in. I got an E the first time and then a C-. She wants you to remember everything she says verbatim and copy it exactly into these terribly long essay exams. YIKES

I really loved this class, she gave a lot of historical background in her lectures which was fascinating for me. The only problem I had with her is that I never really figured out exactly what she was looking for on papers and exams.

Best instruoctor I ever had. Held my interests. Talked about lots of things that seemed stupid, but actually tied into the test if I studied well enough. Encourages one to think beyond norms and likes to have students actually say something that isn't stupid.

Kollmann is witty and brilliant. A tough class, but one of the top five memorable and fascinating I've ever taken. You have to go to class, do the papers, and study. The upside is, she's amazing- she really knows what she's doing. You WILL learn a lot in her classes. She'll make the material come alive for you.

Dr. K always strayed off topic to the point where we never discussed what we had to write about in our tests and papers. She was extremely unclear about her expectations and her syllabi/assignments are from the early 90s. I have since earned my English degree and teach English at a Univ. This English class was the worst grade I ever received.

Absolutely horrible. She rambled on about her dog Taffy or her friend Carol and hardly touched on the literature. Expected you to memorized every word she said verbatum and put it on the test. Some things were on the test that she hadn't even discused and she admits it! Don't take this class- it will be a head ache.

She maintains a challenging class in which dazing off in the midst of lecture IS NOT an option. However, if you focus you will find her knowledge of teh various texts dazzling.

She really knows the material; lectures are kind of hard to follow because she knows so much about the text. The tests are tough, but she lets you re-write them. We started with a packed class, on the last day we had about 10-12 people. If you don't want to work this class may not be for you

Took her class in the Old Testament. Tough class, would love to take it again. Her tests are tough, she really knows her material and she is very helpful. But thre is so much material to absorb; it's really too much to do in 12 weeks.

Dr. Kollman is a difficult teacher, but that's what pushed me to do well. She is beyond intelligent. She does expect a lot out of you, but it's not unreasonable and it really does make you a MUCH better student. My first conference paper was one from her class
