Comment:
Prof. Merkle is by far the best (and easiest) professor in the religion department. I've taken her three years in a row, and received A every year. She is very strict on cell phone use and attendance. Papers assigned on a rotation basis, and two tests, which she gives you a study guide beforehand. Lots of reading in this class, but books are cheap

Assignments and grading criteria given in the syllabus are vague. If you ask her for help she'll be little to no help. Gives an A- for pretty much everything. Only is strict on rules of no computers or bathroom breaks for a few people, not everyone. Assigns too much work for a Gen Ed class. Avoid if you can. Took RELHON103.

She's not that bad. You can miss 5 classes before losing points. There is extra credit almost every day. Decent amount of reading and 2 page papers. Easy midterm, tougher final. 1 project. She was cool and funny, just don't be a moron and you'll do fine.

DO not skip her class. I only missed 2 days out of the semester and it brought my grade down from a B to a C. She is clear about what she wants. If you read the book you will be able to answer the homework questions, book is not bad actually interesting. Do well on the project - big grade! Overall not too bad for a religion class.

If you skip her class, your grade will automatically downgrade. She expects you to write papers at least every month & you're graded on in class participation to read part of your paper. She's such a NUN! Strick, wont put up with much, don't eat in her class.

Instructions for assignments are unclear and overcomplicated. Can be preachy, but is very nice if you are a good student. Don't dare to use your phone or get up to use the bathroom though, those will be compared to lucifer.

Her syllabus is full of editing errors. She is unclear with her directions. Lastly, she is very nice, but only if you are constantly making eye contact and paying attention, and lets be real, it's a religion class. That is borderline impossible.

Lots of reading assignments with about 3 papers, two group presentations and a project. There are only two major tests and a few small quizzes. She's super nice and tends to talk in circles but is just such a great person; she also offers a TON of extra credit opportunities! Easily one of my favorite professors this semester. :)

Nice lady but horrible teacher. Gives way too much work for a class that isn't even a core class. Assigns weekly essays on her own book (which she makes you pay for) and it is by far the WORST book I have ever read.

Prof. Merkle is quite the teacher... 1st dont sit in the back of the classroom, she will think your a troublemaker. 2nd dont whister to anyone anround you...she will call you out. 3rd be prepared to write 2 pg papers (easy to BS theses, no concern). Overall boring class and just try to get on her good side. She is a nice teacher, kinda tough grader

For a gen ed, Merks assigns a ton of work. Papers every 2 weeks and although they are only 2 pages in length its busy work. Syllabus is beyond cryptic, and she never gives higher than an A- on anything!

I love Sister Merkle, she is the best! You have to write a paper every couple weeks, but they have a maximim of 2 pages, and she grades really easy. Midterm and Final are both verbal, which take about 5 minutes. I would defiantly recommend taking her class.

Really nice lady, strict though. Easy grader. Lots of assignments but they're not tough. Just follow her rules and you'll be fine. And if you don't follow her rules she'll call you out in class.

Sister Merkle is really good. She's smart, but kind of dry. I am holding off on taking one of my classes so that I can have her for a teacher. The workload is more than manageable and she is always available for help. Just DO NOT GET ON HER BAD SIDE. Sit in the first two rows so that you get to sign up for good presentations.

Her class is super easy! She does not over load the students with a bunch of reading. She breaks the readings up into groups and you must write a paper on the reading every 2-3 weeks. The papers are really easy. She gives extensions on papers and is willing to help whenever it is needed. Very nice woman, I would recommend taking her class.

Nice lady, easy class and shes understanding when it comes to late work. don't make it obvious if you are texting in class cause she will flip out. you are forced to do oral presentations but they are group work not hard. tests are easy as well.

Great Prof. She has you read a lot throughout the course but you dont have to read everything Iread when I could and I did fine. as long as you read when you have to write the papers and study the important things before the midterm and exam you will do fine. I got an A- in the couse. I would take this class if you are willing to do the work
