I really enjoyed having Dr. Shedden as a professor. She was funny and her lectures were always really interesting. Her tests were quite easy for the most part, although I found the final exam challenging.

Dr. Shedden is an awesome prof! The content of the course is really interesting. Her lectures are engaging and very applicable. Her midterms are fair and so is her exam. You'll be lucky to get her for Cognition! She is very helpful and approachable.

Comment:

Dr Shedden comes across as super nice and provides lots of multimedia examples in lecture that relate to material. Format of slides is confusing, easier to follow along the textbook. Test questions are incredibly hard. TA's marking on papers very subjective. Felt like no matter how I studied, I'd get a bad mark.

Comment:

Best class I took at McMaster. Switched majors in 3rd year and felt like I was thrown in the deep end - Neurophysiology of Vision. But it was one of the most rewarding classes and highest mark I achieved. A lot of hard work, but worth it. Once you understand the grading system and what Prof. Shedden is looking for you will do well.

Her explanations of topics are very confusing and at times unnecessarily long. She tries to make an effort in relating to the class but she comes off as unprepared and nervous. She was a horrible lecturer for this class and I hope she'll be better prepared for the next time she decides to teach it.

She can explain the material well but her class is juz sooooo boring, I couldn't help looking at the clock several times during every lecture or instead of looking at the clock, I would juz fall asleep....but since it's a mandatory course for a lotta students, we juz have to suck it up I guess

Don't get to excited over that first midterm grade...it gets a lot tougher after that...study those SPSS charts and know what those variables are she does NOT explain those well. She provides a lot of help and is a really NICE prof, but should make the test more similar to text book questions. Maybe then the class avg wouldn't take such a beating?!

Helpful but hard makes no sense. Helpful should be fair too. I don't think she likes to give good marks. Not a good prof, but you can't even avoid her because she's the only teaching in Fall and Winter. She thinks it's cool to screw over the whole class. Just awful.
