She is a very sweet women and tries her best to help you understand the concepts. There was frequent homework though. I can't remember if she took roll or not, but I do remember that if you missed class you would be very confused.

I found Dr. Silver's class to be very hard. We used the book a lot, but it seemed we were teaching ourselves. I like a teacher who teaches!! Dr. Silver just seemed to expect you to know what everything meant. She was a very sweet lady, but if you have any problems with math do not take!

Silver is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. This class was hard but thanks to all of her partial credit she gives on daily quizzes and exams, you will always get some points instead of nothing. She will always help you whenever you need it. She even gives out her cell number and you can text/call her if you have questions which I did!

good teacher. but if you decide to take her be prepared to teach yourself. she makes many mistakes on examples, doesn't explain how she fixes them and often skips crucial information. but she is very approachable and always available during office hours to help.

Had her for MTH229, and again for Math & Art Honors Seminar. She's so helpful and will postpone assignments if students are behind. Loves her area of teaching. Highly recommend if you want to learn something. Not hard at all: little homework, easy material.

Funny lady who genuinely enjoyes teaching and helping students. Gives partial credit and daily quizes (basic problems from the day before, usually from hw). She can get side tracked sometimes and can move too fast on material if you're unfamiliar with calc. Easy A if you attend and pay attention. Studying helps, but mainly learn from examples.

Awesome teacher. Explains things well. If necessary will reexplain something till the majority understands. Quizzes everyday so attendance is mandatory. Gives great partial credit. Always willing to help in class or office hours. She's funny and makes class as interesting as Calculus can be.

She is a good teacher. Homework due everyday at the end of class. Gives so much partial credit you can't fail. Write something down even if its not related and she will give you points. She loves graphing things on the computer and using mathematica. NEVER ASK FOR A TAKE HOME FINAL! Worst 20 hours of my life. In class tests are easier.

Do the homework and study for the tests and theres no way you will fail. If you don't do the homework often and just look over your notes before the test you can pass them. She gives resonable partial credit on tests.

Dr. Silver expects everyone to know juss as much about math and she does. She moves pretty fast and there is a quiz every single day. Quizzes are easy, but tests are very hard. She's helpful, but it's still a hard class, and I LOVE math!

Dr. Silver knows how to prove things and gets the point of proofs across quite well. Everything was great the whole year, but the modular arithmetic at the end killed me. Other than that, I actually feel somewhat confident about my proof-writing skills after this class and it's all because of the way she taught it!

If this was about how nice a person can be, she would win hands down, but this is about the teaching effectivness of the class. She just goes on with the homework, which takes about 30 minutes of the class, briefly describes the new stuff (about 10 minutes) and gives us a quiz on yesterdays work. It is very difficult to follow her.

This was the worst professor I had at Marshall, hands down. She is very unclear in her teaching skills, fails to explain things outside of class, grades her tests extremely hard, and is just not at all a good professor. She may have a great mathematical mind, but she fails in conveying that to the students.
