Do not underestimate this class, Judy takes it very seriously. Her classes are long and she usually doesn't give you a break. She doesn't give you suggestions and doesn't help with difficult things and moves very fast with demos.

She is super nice and lenient if you are on her good side, which means you don't miss ceramics frequently and you at least do your work. She does not care about the level of talent you have, as long as you try she gives a good grade. It is required that you have to go back to the studio to do your homework (work on current project)

TBH, I loved this class. Judy was great and was really understanding as a teacher plus she lets students really explore their own ideas and creativity with the projects she's assigns. People assume it will be a free ride because its ceramics but if you take it seriously, its one of the best classes with a great teacher who works very hard!

She expects you to committee at least 5 hrs of your time to your projects. She does take ceramics really serious but its great because you really learn from her. Some people take her criticism personal, but she's just trying to help you and the other students. I really found the time in the studio to be therapeutic. Much better than typing a paper.

This class can be fun if you relax and are willing to put in time. She requires five hours of working time outside of class - yes it's a lot! She also is hard grader. Do your work, attend class, and pay attention and participate in class! She does quizzes/reviews on glazes and it helps your participation grade when you answer.

Judy is a tough teacher to those who expect an art class to be an easy A! You have to work to earn your grades in her classes, just like any academic class, but you can learn a great deal from her if you listen to what she is saying and stop being mad that you are not getting a free A for doing nothing. And yes, some people DO major in art!

Total waste of my time. As a business major I took this course as an elective, thinking it would be interesting. HA! The workload was insane. I spent more time on ceramics projects than I did for some of my business classes. If you are not an art major, don't bother. Focus on your major because that will get you a job later on- not ceramics!

Very mean rude aggrivating woman. She doesn't make class fun at all, and makes coming more of a chore then an interesting art class. Takes up entire class time and never lets you leave early. Way too many projects. Her classes comsume your entire semester and make for very little free time.
