I LOVED prof. Melnyk. She is incredibly passionate and knowledgable about British literature, and is such a nice lady to boot. She offers extra credit and baked cookies for the last day of class. The only bad thing I could possibly say is that she sometimes gets caught up in her zest for the material and her lectures run a few minutes overtime.

Julie was my very first English professor at Mizzou. She is so dedicated to what she teaches. Sometimes, she seems a little off, but she really knows what we're discussing inside and out. She does have a lot of reading, because it's a literature class, but she gives you so much insight into what it is that you're really learning.

Julie Melnyk was my favorite professor last semester. She is so knowledgable and is open to all students opinions. It was a small class and we were all very close knit by the end of the semester. She gives two tests with a final exam over the reading content along with a couple projects. You have constant reading assignments, but its doable.

She is a wonderful woman who knows a lot about her subject, but the reading required is insane, often over 100 pages per class period. SparkNotes was my friend for this class, which was a shame because I wanted to read the material.

After five years of undergrad and grad education, I have yet to find another professor who has her blend of knowledge, passion and understanding. Her classes are always engaging; her attitude, always encouraging; her mind, always open. Overall, she just loves teaching, which is why I took six classes with her and would do so again in a heartbeat.

For this class, Dr. Melnyk makes you write a 500 word essay about once a week. It's not that hard, and she's a great teacher.
