he talks very fast and he did not have office hours for my class but he was not the main teacher he was like a TA but again, he wasnt available to us outside of class. Class is a bit hard and he's smart and he tries so if you're willing to make a bit of an effort you'll be fine.

Justin teaches straight from the book. He's not always the clearest but if you study ahead of time his lectures are helpful. He's very nice and is willing to take time to explain. His tests are fairly easy. Using the solution manual really helped, although watch out it does not have as many problems worked out in the later difficult chapters.

A great teacher - not an easy class if you don't do your homework, but if you do, and understand it, you can count on doing well on the exams. Some of the lectures were a little hard to understand, but he is very helpful in office hours(especially right before the big test!) Recommended.

I agree with the previous poster about the tree demonstration being great, but my personal favorite part of the course was the in-class demonstration of the Coolidge effect. I was lucky enough to be one of the individuals who volunteered for the activity and it really helped me meet some new people. An awesome teacher and true mentor. A+++

Though the first nine thousand level class I've taken at the UF, I was impressed with Smith's teaching. His constant preoccupation with what he called "wood people" was great. The day he claimed he actually was one, standing like a tree for 2 hrs was unbelievable. For a few seconds, I actually believed he was an oak or ash or something. Good.

The class was interesting but hard. His explanations on the usefullness was somewhat labored and not throughroughly prepared. He seemed to be too distrated to be asked for help with questions. Hard proffessor.

Good teacher, his class notes are organized and tests are fair. The only problem with the class is that you can only lose 5 points on each exam and still get an A (there is no curve). So you have to prepare well and avoid careless mistakes when taking exams.

Justin is brilliant, however this will not help you much in this class.BUT...He gives partial credit for just about anything, his quizzes were easier than other ta's, plus, he gave full participation pts and extra credit pts to everyone, no exceptions. Very nice guy and doesnt care about attendance.

He is a horrible T.A. He can't teach the material with clarity at all. He knows what he's doing but just sucks at actually helping students understand the material. Nice guy, but can't teach.

From what I have heard, Justin is the best T.A. for Calc 2 for AP Students. He is sometimes unprepared to answer the homework questions and he often takes the long way to solving simple problems, but he is accessible and realistic and that makes up for it.
