Comment:

Dr. Heimer is an amazing professor. Her lectures are great and funny. DO not miss any lectures and take a good note. Exams are very difficult and papers are challenging. However, Dr. Heimer is genuinely nice and willing to help her students.

Comment:

Dr. Heimer is a big name in her field. She was elected president of the ASC, and she is an incredible professor. She is passionate, and will do anything to help her students. If you are a crim major, YOU WANT TO GET ON GOOD TERMS WITH THIS WOMAN! She knows practically everyone in the field, and is well known herself. Take as many classes as you can

She is passionate about what she does. I felt it was a very difficult course though where she constantly tries to "trick" you instead of challenge you. It wasn't always clear what was going to be on the exams in my opinion. If you miss lecture a lot you will not do well.

If you do not read regularly and keep up with lectures, you will not pass. I enjoyed the course and Professor Heimer, but she does not lie when she says lecture, discussion, and readings are mandatory. The smallest details will be on the exams. There are three with three essays.

Dr. Heimer is great when lecturing because she keeps everyone engaged. Unfortunately, her class is VERY lecture heavy and I had her class at 830 AM and I skipped a lot of classes and my grade has suffered. SO GO TO CLASS. She is super helpful and wants her students to succeed, but her tests are deliberately tough. Just read and study hard.

I had the opportunity to study abroad with her this summer in her course crime and justice in the UK, along with currently taking criminology with her. I've got to say she's an amazing professor and is very passionate about what she does. One does have to attend lecture in order to pass the class, tests are somewhat difficult.

She is passionate about she does and beyond knowledgable. If you just want to veg out in her class it's not going to happen. She involves people and ask questions. Great professor with funny anecdotes. Take all you can with her.

Comment:

Criminology was a pretty interesting class, but Prof. Heimer was just too much to handle sometimes. She's very eccentric and loud, but it shows her passion. Attendance is pretty mandatory since there's a lot on the tests not in her lecture notes. She's always up for a good conversation, but I don't know if I learned much.

Professor Heimer is the best professor I have ever h ad. She does give tough tests, but they are possible to get "a"s on if you study. She is extremely helpful and her lectures are awesome.
