Expected to read two chapters per week before class. Grading was not clear and feedback was not the most helpful. Totally different writing expectations than I was used to. Tough class would not recommend

Definitely not them most interesting class. If you're particularly interested in research, it could be a good choice, if not, I wouldn't take it. Gives very vague idea of what she wants on essays, which count for most of your grade, but if you're a strong writer, shouldn't be an issue.

I had this professor for my freshmen honors class. She invites many intresting people to lecture in this class. This class does involve writing, but to my memory mostly involves participation.

No tests, which is good, but a lot of writing. Tough grader, but she offers good feedback, and gives opportunities for rewrites. Not an easy class.

Definitely was the class I dreaded most. It was so boring and class seemed to drag on forever. She takes attendance and participation matters (i.e. class discussions). Reading is assigned for homework every night, which I didn't really do, but I recommend it so that you can get a better understanding and participate in class discussions.

Dr. Jolly is fantastic one on one... but her class was very hard! Her class has 3 exams and the Final, she is a tough grader and all exams are essay based. She will correct your exam, but give you no feed back on ways to improve! This class is an OC focus and you do role playing, she grades easier one these exercises.

The hardest grader I have ever had in college. 10 short papers and 1 final paper. I spent more time researching for each paper than I spent on all of the homework from my other four classes combined. Then I had to type each essay. Busted my rear and barely got a B.

This teacher is probably the hardest grader that I have ever had. 10 short papers plus a final paper which were not easy. A lot of research for each paper. I spent more time researching for each paper than I spent on homework for all of my four other classes combined. A lot of time consuming work. I busted my rear in this class just to get a B.

Just wanted to warn others about this professor. If you are not a history major don't be fooled by the interesting class topics such as "Medieval Vikings" or "Celtic History". Toughest grader I've experienced during my time in college in regards to papers which are due every week. She takes pride in marking up papers for every little "mistake".

A very good teacher who is well organized and charismatic. She will engage and hold the students attention. She is a harsh grader, but is more lenient in the lower grades. Hard to get an A, but not difficult to get a B.

Besides being an awesome subject (Vikings!), the course was great! Not super easy and did challenge you. It was online but had no issues getting a hold of Dr. Jolly and turning in the assigned papers. Loved that there was an open discussion over the material each day. Everything had to be turned in by noon each day which was reasonable. Take her!

Hands down greatest teacher in the History department! This class "Beowulf, LOTR, and Monty Python" was interesting, fun, and only had about 8 people in it, which made the one-on-one time with the teacher and class mates more enjoyable. She is a tough grader but will help you out and give feedback even on the day the paper is due.

Very interesting and passionate teacher! Her class was all writing papers (5 in total) but weren't too bad. A tough grader but will help you if asked. Have to post two times a week online and go to class for participation. Highly recommend!

Recommended for history majors. Attendance is part of your grade. She relies on the textbook as well as extra readings. Material that is covered in class isn't always related to what she asks of us on the tests which are never multiple choice and require a lot of memorization and studying. If you like history this class is for you.

This class was the easiest one I have ever taken. It is a huge amount of memorization but you never have to go to class. I haven't gone since the first exam, besides for exams, and have an A still. No problem. Relies heavily on textbooks and google, all info is there. Exams are essay based. Lab is important for quizzes.

In lecture, she talks a bit too much about religion or about things that aren't even relevant when it comes to the test. She knows what she's talking about definitely but she expects too much for an introductory course. You have to memorize alot in a short period of time and you have to be good at writing. Recommended for History majors.

Overall she is knowledgeable about the subject. Vague slides for lectures. She likes to make students work in groups a lot... extremely pointless. If you don't mind sitting in groups staring at each other for pretty much half the class this prof. is for you. Just do good on your papers and attend the writing workshops and you will be fine.

when she starts talking, there's no stopping her. if you miss something, it's better to skip it and go back later. i found the class boring, and i ended up day dreaming a lot of the time. it's always good to study with somebody, especially in this class.

OMG This was my most stressful class (even harder then math) even though I got the A its a ridiculous class. You only need the small book you use in labs and going to lecture is pointless unless you want to sleep. All she does is ramble on and on and bring up star trek -_-. As long as you read the small book you will be fine.
