Undoubtedly one of the worst professors I've ever taken. Doesn't lecture, just drolls on about her personal life & gripes with the world. Cancels class at least once a month for her health issues (then talks about them all next class). Incredibly difficult grader for NO reason. Takes 3 classes to lecture on 1 chapter/unit. Don't waste your time.

Professor is generally pretty rude. Averaged a A-B average on speeches, didn't do great on her written test and got a C in the class. She doesn't actually teach anything. She only talks about personal life and gets mad when you dont feel bad for her and sends very rude and unprofessional emails to students.

I think in the last month I have learned more about the teacher herself than communication. She likes to complain about different communicators, and she tends to be rude. Spare yourself

Got A- overall. A on exam and A- on all speeches, one of them being the informative speech in which she took off points for "not relating the speech to her". Being pursuasive is not on the rubric for that speech. Egotistical &unprofessional, even sent class an email about how she felt hurt that none of us reached out to her when she had a bad day.

I did really well on the speeches, an A each time. We took one test and I got a C on it, and I got a C in the class. So basically the class was based on a test, not the speeches. Also doesnt teach you how to write a speech. Bought the book and never opened it. Goess on about her personal life, some days the entire class period! Also very rude.

I know more about her personal life than I do about comm. She gets upset when you don't go to class, but what does she expect when she just babbles the whole time about pointless stories. Don't expect a lot of guidance and if you want to pass you have to feed her ego. She grades based on her opinion rather than the actual quality of work.

If you ca take someone else, DO IT! She doesn't teach at all and spends a lot of time talking about her personal life. She always cancels class and insists that you get there and on time yet she late herself. Don't bother buying the book , I never opened it! She takes points off assignments for grammar as if she was an English teacher. It was bad!

Professor Reed is nice and means well but I wish i had taken this class with a different professor b/c actual content is interesting. She had a lot of health issues and missed lots of class. Didn't communicate that class is cancelled, we showed up and figured it out for ourselves. Do not bother purchasing the text book, you won't even open it.

Reed is nice. She actually cares about her students. Speeches are required but she's very open minded about the topics and opinions of her students. Knows every student by name. TAlks about her personal life a lot but only because she values openness and honesty and comfortability between students and teachers which is actually so great

Relatively easy. Prof Reed is actually very nice... just appears stern. Her lectures aren't too bad, but it's crucial you take notes. Your tests are all based off notes. Super monotone at times, irrelevantly talks about her personal life way too much. But a good teacher, and an interesting course that you actually learn important things from.

She goes off tangents about her personal life, takes points off for grammar, and can have a real bad attitude. But honestly, if you show up to class every day and just do the assignments, you'll be fine! Barely touched the book. Don't forget to participate when she asks questions! Those points add up.

She marks off points on papers just because of grammar. She is sometimes rude. She told us we can leave the class for whatever reason if she wasn't giving lecture but when she talked about something unimportant and we wanted to leave the class she would use a rude tone. I did not learn as much as i wanted but still not that bad.

This class reminded me of high school. Reed is unorganized she didn't even know what txtbook we were supposed to get, expects students to turn in hw in a timely manner, but grades work on her time. Has very high standards on assignments, but not clear on what she wants. Close minded, rude, bad attitude, nit-picky, overall I DO NOT RECOMMEND! :(

She isn't the greatest teacher out there, but i did enjoy her class. You get to know all the people in your class which is great. I enjoyed the course and did really well.

Professor Reed really wasn't always that helpful. She expects a lot out of your work, but doesn't ever thoroughly explain exactly what she is looking for. She is very unorganized and likes to complain about her life. The class wasn't too bad, but I wish I had taken a class with a different professor.

I am a Deans list student and have been attending CSM for a year now. I have been in her class for a few weeks now and am debating whether to drop or not. On the second week we basically did show-and-tell like kindergarten. She is not clear with directions. Ive done 4 assignments so far and shes only graded 1! So i have no idea how I'm doing.

She missed 5 classes, & never warned us she wont be in. She talks more about her life, than she does lecturing. I didnt learn as much from this class as i wish i did. I wouldnt recommend her as a professor. Try a teacher who's more dedicated to their job.

Ms Reed missed more than five classes, didnt tell us she would be absent, spent class time complaining about personal issues, & won't answer emails. She did not teach us how to write a speech. Her assignments were unclear. I'll take this class again but never with her.

Comment:
You give 5 speeches throughout the semester (one is a group speech) for Comm 110. Easy enough class as long as you do all the speeches, midterm and report on speaker outside of class. You spend class time either listening or giving your speech. If your expecting to learn how to write a speech don't take the class.
