Took this online. Easiest class ever, definitely recommend taking this to get it out of the way. Minimal work and lots of time to do things! Don't worry if you're not great at art, she will basically give you points for doing it. Just follow her directions and you'll be fine.

Don't get her mixed up with the other Dr. Terpstra (the painter). Dr. Karen Terpstra is great. You learn a lot without much effort and she's fun. Great online class. Take it!

Took this online over J-term: best way to take what I think is the most boring gen ed ever. I got an A and learned some things about art to remember, ultimately Karen was great and had clear grading criteria and the online course was set up quite nicely.

This class was a bit rough. As a BIO major, I needed this class for a GENed requirement, and I didn't really enjoy it. I'm pretty artistic, but when the teacher grades based on her opinion, it's hard to do well. She was always available to answer questions, but I feel like she may have forgotten her answers by the time she got to grading.

Super easy class that actually teaches you a lot more than you realize when you are taking it. It is a blended class so it is mostly online discussion with meeting 6 times throughout the semester. Attendance during those days is a MUST to get a good grade. If you remember to do the posts on time and show up for class, it is a fun class and easy A!

TAKE HER! Most of the class was online, a quick discussion post and watch some videos. The quizzes are easy and she tells you what will be on them. You meet in class a few times to do some drawing. Projects are super easy and she's fun.

Karen is a perfect teacher for general art foundations. She is very passionate about art, flexible with allowing the student to push the limits of the assignment, and very supportive with students efforts. I believe if you need your hand held, you don't want to be your prof. Otherwise, kick back, relax, and experience art.

Easiest class I have ever taken. She is a very easy and straight forward teacher. She works right out of the book. Before quizzes she gives a review which tells you EXACTLY what to know. Boring class but easy.

Dr. Terpstra is an easy teacher. Some questions on the quizzes can be unclear, but I have barely looked at the textbook and am getting an A. Her parents are both sick and that is why she hasn't been getting grades in. In my class we watched many videos. It was a lot of visual learning, so go to class and you'll be fine. Take her!

Well, I think Karen must have made some changes to art appreciation since most of these comments were made. The tests are not open book anymore, and the questions can be really specific. She really sucks at lecturing. She talks to fast and is almost impossible to write notes. It also takes FOREVER for her to grade stuff. BLah take someone else!

The requirements for work at minimal and she tends to spazz out about things that have absolutely nothing to do with ceramics. That being said she is very supportive and will give you HONEST feedback on your work-- if you ask for it. Her classes have a lot of freedom and she never says no to a good idea for a project.

Karen is a very nice person, but she's not a teacher of World Art. If you want to have fun and do nothing, just wasting your time, go ahead, enroll to this class. All assignments include presentations of headdress, a piece of non-western culture, and food. Classes may be boring or cancelled. Actually, I didn't get how she gives grades.

Terpstra is a professor that likes to give A's because this is all she has to give. She doesn't really know how to teach or really cares to teach. She cares about her own work and not of the student. A teacher who teaches for the next paycheck only. Good luck if she is ever in to answer her phone or help you in your work. Learn by osmosis. No brain
