If you are only taking this class if you have to for El Ed I suggest taking Geography instead. Tt was extremely stressful for no reason and he grades really hard and never gives clear feedback.

Dr. Campbell has been one of my favorite professors at App. He is so passionate about NC history that you can't help but enjoy it too. The class consists of chapter reading quizzes, but the book is pretty interesting! There are 3 exams and a group unit plan/or individual paper. I choose the paper and liked it. Would definitely recommend him!

Karl made me find a love for history! His lectures are interesting and he knows a lot about North Carolina history. Three tests, one of them is the midterm and another is the final but none are cumulative. Reading quizzes that are due before each class which are kind of annoying. The main assignment consists of paper or a teaching kit. I loved Karl

Dr. Campbell has been one of my favorite professors at App. The course/ tests are difficult, but if you read and go to his review sessions it really helps. He is always available to help and goes out of his way to make lectures interesting. He r cares about his students and wants you to do well as long as you do your part

Dr. Campbell may be one of the best professors I have ever taken. He is very passionate about North Carolina History. There is an online chapter quiz before each class. The chapters range from 20-30 pages each but it is interesting stuff! The tests are fairly difficult but the group project will help your grade in the end.

Dr. Campbell is probably the best history professor Ive taken. He really knows North Carolina history and it makes the class easy to follow. The class itself isnt that hard except that his tests arent easy and the biggest grade is a massive group project or paper. Its worthwhile to do, but time consuming.

He is one of the most self-righteous people I've ever met. He assigns a reading and online quiz for every class, you have a massive group project, and his final consists of two essays. He forces his political beliefs down your throat. He claims he's not a hard grader, but he went behind the TA and lowered my essay by a half a letter grade.

Dr. Campbell is my favorite professor Ive taken in college yet. His class is lecture note heavy, and has lots of quizzes, but he makes lectures fun and interesting! He isnt afraid to tackle hard or taboo topics, but he does it in a semi light hearted way that takes the topic seriously but does not make anyone uncomfortable. Hes the best!

Great prof, very knowledgeable, passionate, and funny. Tests are VERY detailed so you must study hard. Have to read the textbook as there is a detailed online quiz on every chapter due every class. There is a project: write a 10 page research paper or create a lesson plan with 4 other people. Chose the latter and get started early. Loved this class

This class is very tough, but would highly recommend it. Karl is a very tough grader, and makes you think outside of the box. WHATEVER YOU DO WRITE THE PAPER, DON'T DO THE KIT!!!!!!

Dr. Campbell has become one of my favorite professors. You have to go to class, but I genuinely look forward to it because he makes lectures really interesting. I would highly recommend taking his class, even if you're not an education major or history-inclined!

Dr. Campbell is a very gifted lecturer that keeps information interesting with hilarious stories. The class is moderately difficult, but if you study, you will do well. He has an assignment which you can either choose a paper or group project. I recommend paper. Only downside of Campbell is that he expresses his political opinions very often.

Dr. Campbell is a likeable person, and always helpful. There is semester-long project (or research paper, your choice) and three exams, all of which are fairly simple if you work ahead of time. He went out of his way to have multiple review sessions for the final, and I found NC history to be far more interesting than I'd anticipated.

Dr. Campbell is such a great professor. His class involves a lot of work but if you put in the effort you will get a good grade. His lectures are really interesting and you can tell he dedicated a lot of effort and passion into teaching history. Tests were pretty hard, even though i studied a lot.

Dr. Campbell has been my favorite professor, by far, at App. I would highly recommend- make sure to do all of the book quizzes and, even though it's a lot of work, I enjoyed doing the group project rather than the paper. Would highly recommend this professor.

Campbell was a good professor. Personally, I did not like his lectures. You have to pull everything from the textbook instead of his lectures (so pretty much the lectures are pointless). His tests are meaty so be prepared to study HARD for them. He's a pretty cool guy.

This class is honestly the hardest class I have taken at Appalachian, but Dr. Campbell really loves history and makes you want to learn it. Even though his class is really hard I respect him and he's an amazing professor.
