No idea how she is in person, but she shouldn't be allowed to teach an online class. Worst ever.

She is nice but, her exams are ridiculous. She writes them herself and makes some of the questions subjective, the answers similar, and gives you 2/3 of the time on the final project as other profs. Her directions aren't as clear as she thinks they are. Very frustrating! Do NOT take if you have a full schedule. Does not practice what she preaches.

She was very judgmental, rude, and short when talking to me. She made insulting judgments about my personal life and attacked my learning and mental disabilities. I was stunned that someone with her knowledge could be so bitter. She was constantly angry and slightly degrading when she talks to you and even in lectures online. Used to be good..

This course was online and it was difficult at times because she wasn't clear on her direction, but this was also her first time teaching it online. An lot of work so you need to dedicate enough time for this 4 credit course. I would take her again.

Comment:
Worst professor I've had at EMU so far. The class material is not difficult, but the test questions are poorly written and ambiguous. There was no interaction with the professor in the online course, just listening to her taped lectures and posting to other students. She contradicts the text at times, though she gives no facts to back her opinions.

Anyone who complains about Dr. Beauvais is someone who doesn't understand education. She's not going to give you cookie cutter answers. Rather, she presents information about children in such a way that you understand how challenging it is to see a child's issues in the classroom. Phenomenal professor!

Enthusiastic and passionate about the material. Incredibly accommodating. She definitely walks to walk - fair, respectful, and clear. The only downside is that she had health issues that forced her to cancel class many many times. Additionally, the group project is a bit of a pain (but that is not her fault... every section does it).

I am currently taking this teacher for EDPS 322. Hardest class I have ever taken. I am still getting an A in the course, but I am having a hard time getting material coompleted (but I get it done). The first test was bad grade, I went to every class. Second test I went to none of the classes and studied at home, Aced it... Take a diff. teacher

Do not take this course in the spring or summer - way too much info in such a short time for a 4 credit class. Group project is a huge part of grade & requires a bit of research, but very do-able. Practically gives you the essay questions on exams ahead of time, so if you practice them before exam, you should do really well. Great prof, hard class.

One of the most difficult yet rewarding classes I've taken. Teaches entirely from overheads, but her wealth of knowledge, the way she keeps you interested and her sense of humor makes going to class worth it! Tests are hard! Don't skip and use review sheets for exams that she puts in course pack - they REALLY help & she never mentioned them to us!

Great mix of text-based material and deep professional experience leaves you with a solid base of practical and intellectual knowledge. Very engaging in class and approachable outside of it. Exams are no problem if you attend class and do the reading. She'll often give you advance knowledge of the exact material on the test.

If you suffer with a learning disorder as I do, don't take this class. You will likely fail. I have to take it over because I got a C- and not a C and I went to get help frequently. Unless you're a really good test-taker, you're screwed.

Seriously, anyone who has listed Kathleen's disability as a problem for having her as a professor does NOT belong in the COE and should change their major immediately. She is insightful and helpful, but she is quite hard. I worked my butt off and got and A. I recommend her to everyone I know, she reminded me why I wanted to be a teacher.
