Prof. Hansen is great! Class lectures were a bit dull at times and I'll admit I've dozed off. Attendance is taken through in-class exercises and you NEED to be there everyday otherwise your grade will tank quickly. There are readings to do every week but I never did them and have an A in the class. Very clear grading criteria and overall great prof

Prof. Hansen made a pretty dull class quite interesting with plenty of anecdotes and an evident knowledge about journalism and the media. She takes attendance through in-class exercises and expects you to have read the chapter before class each week. The workload isn't terrible, but expect a few papers and some dry reading in the textbook.

Super nice. Lectures always started dull, but got more interesting by the end of class. A couple papers to write, but not the most formal writing requirements. Tests weren't bad.

She gives decent lectures, but the content isn't very difficult. There were definitely a few instances of sleeping in class and it turned out alright. There's in-class activities that they use to track attendance, so it's mandatory if you don't want to lose points. 4 Papers which isn't that much, and 2 multiple choice tests (midterm and final)

By far my favorite professor. Keeps everything interesting with humor, videos, and relevant information. Attendance is required-exercises in class. Read the textbook and speak up in class, though neither are necessary they help you feel like you know what you're talking about. Review the study guides before tests and do the extra credit, it's easy.

Prof Hansen is very clear on how she grades the class, which is extremely helpful. You can get 70s on the midterm and final but show up to class, pass the moodle quizzes (super easy), follow exactly what she says for the papers, and you will end with an A. There are chances for extra credit as well so take advantage of that when possible.

Prof. Hansen is wonderful! Very funny and woke. Her lectures are incredibly relevant and meaningful, you can tell how much she cares about what she's teaching. Super simple course as long as you at least skim the readings every week, and show up for the lectures. Papers, weekly quizzes, and in-class worksheets are pretty easy.

She is extremely knowledgeable about the subject and she keeps all of the information up to date as well. I enjoyed the class a lot and she made sure everyone was really engaged in the conversation. The assignments weren't that difficult if you just paid attention in class and did the reading. I would definitely recommend taking this class!

Weekly reading and homework, not difficult but mandatory to do well. Lectures were mandatory and not too bad to sit through. Ending group project is manageable. Kathy obviously knows what she's talking about and I learned a lot.

This class has a lot of online quizzes which are really easy to ace (and nice pads for the tests). For me, the papers were easy to do well on -- Professor Hansen was very clear about criteria. The tests were a little harder though, more extrapolation than I was expecting. Don't just memorize -- also apply.

I took JOUR 1001 to fulfill a liberal arts requirement, but I absolutely loved the class! The professor was very knowledgeable and while the powerpoints were mainly a repeat of the textbook, she included extra examples and many video clips and extras that kept the class interesting. Attendance is mandatory due to graded in-class assignments.

She is very knowledgeable about this area and applied the concepts to the real world in every lecture, which i enjoyed. Attendance is a must because she gives out an in class activity for points every day.

Prof Hansen is very passionate about journalism and it's pretty clear in class. CLASS IS MANDATORY in order to get a good grade. There are points given everyday for class, but it's pretty easy course overall. I would take Prof Hansen again!

She is very ambiguous and has a hard time explaining things in her class. Honestly, the way that she led the class made me dread going to it three times a week, because it just ended up being busy work and busy time. Assignments every week, tests every week and participation points EVERYDAY. Like a high school class.

The class was boring, lectures were just a repeat of the textbook reading, which was required (cough), and attendance was mandatory. At the beginning of the semester, she told us the class would only be a little bit of lecture and mostly discussion, which was a lie. It was all lecture, from power points. She's clear on what she wants on assignments

Class is almost entirely attendance and participation, which was nice. There's one simple group project that you work on in class the last 2 weeks. She's knowledgable and extremely approachable. Class got a little boring at times.
