She's strict, but fair. I fully enjoyed her class and thought she was very knowledgeable in history. No tests, just 3 essays, so if you typically do not put any effort into essays or not a good writer I would not bother taking this class. Lectures are on echo, making note taking easy, and make sure you read the readings and attend class

Comment:

Jane Austen Class. She is an easy grader, but all she asks is that you are aware of grammar and spelling rules in your three 5-7 page papers. She doesn't give exams, and only quizzes when you don't do the reading as a class. YOU MUST DO THE READINGS, but they really help you out in your papers. She is a great lecturer. Knows what she is doing.

When the semester first started I thought this class was going to be awful however as the semester progressed this became my favorite class. Attendance is not mandatory and Prof. Wilson puts all the lectures on Blackboard. Course was one essay test and two papers. As long as you take good notes and prepare the tests are easy. I got an A-.

Although history is not my strong suit, as long as you go to class and pay attention to what is being said and shown on you tube, and do the required readings you will get an A. All assignments were essays, one in class the rest take home, each with multiple choices to pick from. Great Professor, who really knows her subject and very entertaining

Professor Wilson is straightforward, and very knowledgable in her concentration. If you get a bad grade it's because you're an idiot. Do the essential reading and attend class, have decent writing skills and you will excel. She's also pretty funny and has good style.

Professor Wilson gets a bad rep, but she is really passionate about what she is teaching. She has a great sense of humor, but this IS a college class and she doesn't baby you. I thought her lectures were interesting, and she was extremely fair. Some professors let you coast by, and she is not one to do so. She wants you to learn, not just coast.

I took her Austen class and absolutely loved it. The books were very inexpensive and she made the class interesting. The only requirement was three 5-7 page papers and if you had somewhat of an understanding of the text, you did very well on the papers. I would definitely recommend for a DEC I.

I took the Jane Austen course, there were only three 5-7 page papers for the course, and if you read the books, or at least knew where to pull quotes from, you were good. And if you speak to her she will raise your grade. I also like her style. She is sort of a stickler for attendance threatening to fail people but idk if she actually did

She is brilliant and challenging! The students who are bashing her here must be ignorant losers who have difficulty reading and performing at the college level. SUNYSB students ought to feel privileged to have such an accomplished scholar-- renowned in her field -- as their professor. But then again it is a waste of time to cast pearls at swine.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! I am a history major and she made this one of the most diff classes out all my history classes i have ever taken! first off she makes you buy 8 books, that she expects you to read and use in her papers, three papers and a midterm,and quizzes. Her grading is very very harsh. I am warning you because someone didn't warn me!!

She's serious about her lectures and the reading but only because she's spent her life researching and her lectures reflect that. She's very funny and personable as long as you go to class and do the work. She's an alright teacher, and very intelligent in the field. However she's also arrogant, and unprofessional in the way she speaks to students (Both inside and outside of class) Also, the attendance policy is unfair, especially for a lecture class. I understand the need to go to class, but having the limit for absences for two is a too slim.

Easy class, decent grader. The only complaint I really have is how she reads entirely from her lecture notes. From the moment you walk in, till the time you leave you are constantly listening to her recite word for word whats written on the page. I didn't like how she gave attitudes to people who asked questions, very unprofessional and childish.

She is one of the smartest, most intelligent professors. She knows what shes talking about and has a passion for history. yea, she doesn't want you getting up in class or leaving, but truthfully you shouldnt be getting up anyway. Its rude. I like her alot. I compare sitting in her lectures to sitting in church not being able to move or the eyes of justice will have it in for you for the whole semester. Hold on to your bladder kids, she won't let you pee during her class either. If you have a soul, run away, run away and take another class. Course is okay, just not with her.
