SAS 15 is a good class, but IT IS NOT AN EASY ELECTIVE!! There is a TON of reading, as well as weekly papers and a final research paper. Honestly, I find the TAs and UAs more helpful than Radke herself. She is rather condescending in review sessions and has trouble articulating the biological aspects to those who have no prior knowledge.

Radke is an amazing professor. I got more out of SAS15 than I have out of any other class at Davis. She has taught this class so many times she has perfected it to a science. You will come out of the class with a great appreciation of HIV/AIDS and its impact on the world. Read everything she mentions in class and be prepared to write a lot.

Radke is a good lecturer but the class itself is horrible. Too much work involved. Do not take this if you're looking for an easy elective. Discussions are mandatory since you have to turn in a weekly paper, yet they are useless, boring discussions. Too much writing and reading involved for a SAS class.

Radke is one of those professors who goes above and beyond to help her students. She gets interesting guest lecturers to come and is a great speaker herself. This class is a lot of work (35 pages written total) but it is also very rewarding if you are willing to put the time in. Take this class because you want to.

There is a lot of information covered in this class, all interesting. assigns a lot of readings but you can sail by without doing them. lectures posted online. reflection papers due every week in section that is kind of a pain to do, but easy overall. 10 page paper at the end of the class=time consuming. discussions are mandatory but useless.

I really enjoyed this class, and I learned so much about HIV/AIDS. I thought the teacher was really nice, and the guest lecturers were very interesting. She does assign a lot of reading which can be annoying. The class is pretty intense, but I would still reccommend taking it.

I would not recommend taking this class unless you have the time and energy to constantly write. The discussions were okay, but the lectures were boring. I learned more from the book than from the instructors. This is not an easy elective so dont take it if your hoping for an easy A. Interesting material, but a hard class.

Hard Class, Cold Professor... Very interesting once we got into the social aspects related to HIV/AIDS. The class is worth taking due to great discussion sections and very interesting guest lecturers towards the end of the course.

Her 8 page study guide for the midterm did not help with the way the midterm was formatted. Be prepared to write at least 35 pages of writing throughout the quarter, not worth taking for GE credit

Great class with knowledgable yet unapproachable teacher. Radke is totally rude and stuck up. The class is definitely worth taking.

Very interesting. Though kinda of boring. The tests are doable. The second half of the course is politically biased. But overall, a very informative teacher.

Seems a lot of work for a class just to fulfill a GE. The lectures are quite boring, but maybe thats because i dont care for the subject at all.
