Kathy Hettinga is not a good professor. She is a shame to the Art Department at Messiah College. She does not have a good knowledge of the programs and you spend needless time watching online tutorials. Her teaching is not challenging. Do not take her if you want to learn.

Professor Hettinga runs the class, Publication Portfolio: Design as Service, like a professional design studio. Each student is assigned a non-profit to work with. Amazing experience. I feel more prepared for my first job after taking this course. And my client was awesome to work with. Good organization and I think my design helped them out.

She's the most frustrating professor I've ever had. She needs everything to be a specific style and she passive-aggressively insults her students. She expects you to forget other priorities and only work on her things, AVOID.

She likes men. Very particular on what she likes and what she doesn't. She can be very fun if you get to know her. If she likes you and your work you and everyone else will know. The people she doesn't like will know it too and no matter how hard they try will not get anywhere with her. Guys can use their charm to get on her good side.

ummm, such a scatterbrain. she didn't remember who I was or like anything about me... and she is my advisor!!! she only likes what she likes and you better do what she likes or you will not get a good grade. she wastes time talking about nothing!

Seek out. Run to. Genuinely cares. Teaches in an interesting way, more helpful and interesting, more experienced than the other professors. Nice, helpful, makes class interesting. Gives out muffins.
