Comment:

First time taking physics- so it was like pig latin to me. Whenever you seek her for help, she's there, or was for me at least. She's very approachable. I don't think she lets the final effect you that much if the entire class does poorly. Finished with a B- and after the horror stories I'd heard around campus, I'm beyond satisfied.

If you intend on taking this class with her, please note that she gives no time for tests, does not convey ideas clearly, and does not go over examples in class but has you do them during "recitation," which is where you do examples by yourself with very minimal guidance. Finished Calc 3, retaking physics 1.

Dr. Brown's class is definitely not easy, but what physics class is easy? Class is not mandatory, but if you don't attend you will definitely fall behind! The tests are pretty tricky, but she gives partial credit which really helps! Dr. Brown is very nice.

HARD class but it moves slow. Material is tougher than what I had in hs phys. Test problems straight from hw. Gives lots of bonus if you bother to do it. Class is huge so don't expect much one-on-one and hard to find her outside of class. Gives lots of examples and you should understand material if you bother to ask questions.

Awful teacher. Held little to no regard for the students, didn't take her time to explain things and was like, "A lot of you are failing some of you should just drop out." Very bad teacher seems she hates her jobs and cares little for the students. Stewart/Kazzan are the opposite of the Browns, take them instead.

She made me hate physics.. I actually had one of the higher grades in her class. But she drove me nuts, her tests are very tricky, and you have too little time to take them, which makes it almost impossible to get an A on them. She does give bonus and at the end it equals out. (If you take her, then prepare to pull your hair out until the last day)

SUPER HARD. do the homework problems! Tests are hard but the final is just like the tests. You can not find her outside of class. She has the biggest curve ever. Overall she is a good teacher.

VERY challenging. Between hwk and class problems there is a ton of material to practice from. Tests similar to those too. Takes a LOT of time and practice. Will help outside of class if you ask, even came in on weekends to give xtra help. Expects you to work - and you will. Gave bonus pts and big curve at end.

She knows her Physics but doesn't transfer her knowledge of it to her students. I emailed her several times and called and left a voicemail asking for help and never heard back from her. I even went to her office several times (she doesn't list office hours on the syllabus) and she was never there. If you need help, get a tutor cuz she won't help.

Dr. Brown is probably one of the worst teachers i have ever had in my life. She sucks at teaching and will only acknowledge the fact that your taking her class if you have a male sex organ. Passing her class is nearly impossible.

You have to study (gasp) and work hard (gasp) - but there is no prof on earth who will be able to teach you physics if you don't do that! Puts examples from book and homework problems on tests. Ask questions in class and she'll explain things. i put in 10hrs a week and got A.
