I had Kay for Calc I & II. She is an excellent teacher. It's obvious she knows and enjoys math and teaching. She will give an outline of exactly how many problems are on each test and the type of each problem. Extra credit practice tests are available - do them! The test will look very similar.

Good teacher. She is straight forward and clear. Do all the HW and you will get extra credits. She ill also help you if you go to office hour until you get it. However, try to sit in the front so that you get everything she says. I sat towards the back of the class and sometimes could not understand what she said. Take her for calc.

I love Kay! I had her for clac 2 and 3 and she is so helpful. She outlines what each question on the test is going to be so that you know exactly what to study. She always has funny analogies and stories to tell when she is teaching and if I could take her for every math class I would.

Had this teacher for precalc, Calc 1, Calc 3, and Linear Alg, I think she is the best choice of the current lcc staff. She is very clear, helpful, and fair. If you come to math easily she might put you to sleep but for those who have issues she is wounderful.

Really excellent teacher. She is very clear in her teaching, and goes over as many problems as needed for review. Her class isn't easier than other math classes, but she prepares you better. I would highly recommend her as a math teacher.

Professor Barks was an amazing instructor. Crystal clear and willing to go over as many problems as needed. generous extra credit and partial credit. Study guides tell exactly what is on test. She loves math and it shows, she tells you how this will fit in later in your math classes. Plus she rescues cats. I would love to have her again.

Fantastic teacher! I loved her class. If you're worried about taking math, take her. She goes through the problems step by step and she gives you tips to solve them. She really welcomes questions so if you're confused about something, make sure to ask questions in class or during her office hours. Also the SI Laura is totally awesome and helpful!

Kay is an Excellent Calculus teacher. She is very nice and helpful if go to her office with a question. She is clear about the material in the class and grades VERY fairly (especially when she knows you struggled on a test). I have had many Math/Calculus teachers and I can honestly say that Kay is one of the best I have ever had

Mrs. Barks was there when I needed help in the office, however when she explained things in class a lot of us didn't understand what she was talking about a lot of the time. It seemed like she tried to trick us on tests and I didn't like how she prepared us for tests. She gave us a written out sheet to try to study, and no practice tests..

I'm not naturally good at math and am only taking this because it's required for my major. I thought the class was extremely difficult, and she gave little help. I went to office hours and the SI they had in the beginning of the year, but i still did poorly. And all the homework is done online, which i especially hate.

Not only knowledgeable, but demonstrates superior teaching skills often neglected by other college-level instructors. Expectations are clear, and she answers all questions cheerfully and with deliberate clarity. She's no pushover on tests, but motivated students will have everything they need to succeed.

I'm taking Kay for Calc. I, spring 2010. She is the best math instructor I've had so far. She is very helpful with answering question and being available during office hours. Her test are outlined before hand, and she explains the material so you don't need to ask question. I HIGHLY recommened her, she's the best!

Excellent teacher. Explains things incredibly clearly, if perhaps a bit slowly. Prepares you well for the tests, including the final exam. Will be taking her again for Calc III and probably Linear Algebra.

Had her for calc 2, good teacher, she allows a dropped test, explains things very slowly, which sometimes is good and sometimes tedious. If math is not your strength then I would recommend her over other instructors, because she will explain everything in detail. Questions she welcomes, and has hours to help. Very nice.
