Dr. Vitense is awesome. Be sure to read the book and to also practice the problems multiple times to understand the process. His tests are kind of tough but he lets you use 1 sided not card for any information you want. Be sure to write down the equations needed since he doesn' provide them for the exam. Participate in class even if you'r not sure.

Great and intelligent professor. His class is no walk in the park. People that complain about Dr. Vitense probably complain about ice melting at room temperature. His class is enjoyable, be sure to read the textbook!!! He makes you work for the grade you want. Dr. Vitense is a jack of all trades and likes to incorporate everyday life into lecture.

I dread his class. I've talked to almost everyone in my class and they almost all say that they have no idea what is going on in his class. Chemistry is a hard subject and he acts like we have a degree in it! He teaches you as if you already know what he's talking about. Then when you ask for help he acts like I'm bothering him.

At first I didn't like this class but I learned to enjoy it. He is helpful but he wants you to do your part. Study for the test and always do the homework and quizzes. His class is difficult but not impossible to make an A in.

Dr. Vitense is a wonderful professor. He is helpful. He is challenging. Lab's are complicated and long, and if ur work is late, you'll feel like dying. Cannot stress this enough-Use solution manuals for txtbk to help with lab reports and hw. Even more important, Go to his office for help / once a week. Go to office for ?'s early. Few tests.

Lots of online homework and online quizzes. He tends to get off subject a little but nothing too bad.

Ask a simple question that deserves a simple answer but he will sit there and talk for 20 minutes and you probably won't remember what you asked in the first place. Super frustrating person to work with and acts like his students are complete idiots. Ask for an example and he will relate it to football, every time. Only good thing is his grading.

Comment:
Textbook stinks, online homework is mainly 'gotcha' questions, quizzes are dense and do not prepare for tests. Tests allow notecards but the topics have such a wide range you can have a notecard with no a single formula or answer for the test. Syllabus does not give test dates. If you are sick, good luck. No replies to emails. He is a nice guy.

Dr. Vitense is a very smart man, he knows the material. He has a dry sense of humor, but has a lot of interesting things to share with the class. He requires that you do your work as a student Because that IS why you are going to school. Make sure to ask him if you have trouble, because he will help you. But he will not Wait for you. Show effort

Dr. V is extremely intelligent. Hes a bit intimidating. But I think he's misunderstood. He expects you to pull your own weight & dislikes the idea of "spoon feeding" info to students. He is more than willing to help you understand but you have to literally bust your tail in the class to keep your head above water. It's very easy to get left behind.

Challenging class, but he made the material as concise as possible. works any problem you ask him to, pretty good at explaining material. tons of online hw. If you study hard, read the book, & are good at math you'll be ok. you need to have lots of individual study time set aside tho; make sure all your other classes are easier than this one!

Hard, very hard, but fair and helpful. Pretty good at explaining stuff, insane amount of mastering chem hw, but will explain/work problems if asked. 2 finals, 1 is opt. to raise grade; 3 reg. tests. do lab w/ some1 else. will def. prep you 4 chem 2, but if u only need chem 1, try Koll-much easier. you BETTER go 2 class every day 4 ur own sake!

He is a good professor, his lectures are well prepared and clear. However, if you are looking for an easy professor don't take his class because his class isn't easy you have to study a lot on your own time to learn the material, and there is a large amount of material that "could" be on each test.
