Not only are you assigned the reading, you will write about it then read that to your classmates in class then the prof will reread the chapter to you. She is unorganized. And if you dont talk in class, you wont pass and you will be called out in front of the class about your lack of participation . Laptops not allowed in the classroom.

Very unorganized but pretty easy class, have to turn into GFQ's (reading assignments) every night before class the next day, 3 tests not cumulative no final, tests consist of 3 essays and 10 multiple choice questions, she is super sweet and knows her subject

Professor Hamilton is a super sweet woman, but her class would sometimes drag. She wasn't always extremely clear on assignments. However, I did learn a lot.

An extremely sweet and caring woman, but her overall class is very all over the place. She jumps from chapters and the class typically has no clue where she's reading from. Her lectures consist of her mainly reading the book in her own words aloud. She only assigned two papers and three tests, one of which being the final (not cumulative).

Professor Hamilton is very passionate about history and this shows in her lectures. She is very approachable. She has review sessions before every test which are incredibly helpful! There is homework every night that you need to do in order to do well in her class and it frequently takes a few hours (2-3). She is also a huge fan of Jane Austen.

Listen to me: AVOID THIS WOMAN. Our class has dropped from 26 to 15, and more plan to. She gives us masters level books and wastes our time in class. We still don't have a real syllabus, and it's fall break. Thursday of break, she sent an email with our work, and it's in a different book then she'd originally said. So beyond done with her!

Dr. Hamilton doesn't spoon feed. She's brilliant, hands down, and while many Hist. majors want notes they can spew back and collect their "A" she doesn't do it. There is group work, and discussion, and you are expected to attend. It isn't just about the grades, it's learning to read history, and think about it for YOURSELF, novel concept I know.

If you want notes on a screen and a regurgitating test, then she isn't the prof. for you. You have to be proactive in what you get from her classes. YOU HAVE TO DO THE READING. The group work will mean nothing to you if you have nothing tcontribute. She doesn't spoon feed, and so many students don't seem to get it.

She drives me nuts. I HATE the groupwork. It would be okay if it was every once in a while, but every day is TOO much! I always learn something from her because she is brilliant. I really try very hard to avoid her at all costs.

What is with the group work?? Pointless, absolutely pointless. If I didn't have to take this for my major, I would never take another one of her classes. She has the attention span of a goldfish. One minute she talks about the infamous video 'Who owns history' and then will discuss how much she enjoys being a grandmother. Nice but a little off

I learned so much from Dr. Hamilton. She is one of the nicest, most understanding and, hands down, SMARTEST professor I have ever met. She knows so much and has so many interesting stories that she is dying to share w/ the class. She is so helpful and so sympathetic. Really enjoyed her and her class.

Her tests are easy because you can predict what will be on them. She always gives about 12 essay questions and you have to answer 3. It's an unusual history class because you don't ever take notes. You have an assignment due every class period that can be annoying. There is just so much material to cover in the class and there isn't enough time.

Definitely worst prof I ever had. I had no idea what we were supposed to get from that class, because she never communicated her ideas clearly. To her, history is like a piece of artwork, so if you like philosophy...welcome to philosophical history.

This was an awful class! She is very unclear and scatterbrained. She actually rewards people for sleeping in class b/c "it was that much harder for them to get to class in the morning" than for those who try to listen to her babble.
