Comment:

Super cool prof, and his enthusiasm is genuine. One of the easier professor I've had, gave plenty of handouts and online material to prepare for easy midterms, that are often times exactly the same as the material given, if not easier and the occasional question that's from the text. His notes aren't great, but you can write your own during class.

Comment:

Kelly has a lot of passion for chemistry and it rubs off on his students. It is easy to get good grades because he gives you everything you need to succeed on exams and labs. Assignments are clear and he even will review it with you to help you get a better grade. He also likes to play music during Labs and makes them really fun.

I really like Kelly, he's a great guy and wants you to do well. I enjoy how he throws in an uncommon elegant word every now and then for fun. I asked far too many questions, but he still had patience, despite the fact that some of them were ill-formed, or extraneous to the class. I had a great time in this course.

This is the best. Hilarious and not boring at all. His tests are not of trickery at all, straight forward as long as you study.

midterms are awful why so many trick questions worth so many marks!? notes very unclear doesn't specify what material is to be tested and what isn't he is nice and tries to be helpful but i would avoid him again

Seems to be a clever man with a passion for chemistry. That said, Kelly doesn't seem to have a "teaching bone" in his body, and proceeds through material erratically as though the students too, have PhDs. This results in a smug, and often times contemptuous professor, and a stressed class with a low average. Avoid if at all possible!!!!!

Likes to 'throw curveballs' on examinations. Homework isn't hard enough to prepare, you never know what material will be on the exam. Overall, it's a underwhelming class. Very disappointed.

He is clear, approachable, FAIR MARKER. It's a rare thing for a teacher to make his classes interesting. He loves chemistry, and makes you love it too. IF YOU DON'T LIKE CHEMISTRY DO NOT TAKE HIM, but IF YOU DO, Definitely DO.

Kelly was an awful teacher. His notes are very unclear, he jumps around from one point to the next. He is so boring. Luckily he was replaced by a different teacher because Kelly was promoted (although I don't know why he would be). If you can learn from Nathan Jones then do it. Best teacher I've ever had. Period.

Kelly is an excellent instructor. The only times that he is unclear is when completing math that you really should know, he skips some steps. His instruction is very interesting and you can tell he loves chemistry. Exams test your whole knowledge of the subject, not just whether or not you can reproduce answers. I would definitely take him again.

When doing calculations, he doesn't go into the level of detail to make students understand what's going on, like suddenly that number appears out of nowhere or like suddenly that number goes into the other calculations without telling us how. Tricky exams, especially the organic. Hard marker. Low class average.

Kelly is THE BEST! I hated chemistry before taking this class, and could not understand any of the math we were expected to do in highschool so I dropped it, but kelly made it all make sense. Really cares about the students and the subject, funny guy, very smart and knows how to explain everything perfectly! Never gets impatient. Just fantastic!

I d k how can he mess up all the materials that I've learnt before. Tests were extreme cruel cuz there were some tricky problems that worth 3 or 4 marks, out of 25 something. You know what I mean. He didn't have any handouts and the material he covered were explained in his extremely vague way. And he is a hard marker. Overall, don't take his class

I dont know why a teacher would put "trick questions" on their exam. Like cmon, we're just there to learn and pass with a decent grade. He does NOT have good notes at all! I had to learn everything myself through the textbook. Literally in his class, the textbook is your friend. Midterms are tricky. Quizzes are okay (but study!)

no idea how he has such high ratings...his notes are ridiculous, half the time he's just zoned out staring at the chalk board..you have to learn everything through the textbook and don't be surprised when you fail his tricky midterms which is SO unfair :(, why would you purposely make tricks? Quizzes are straight forward as long as you study.

Not that great. Very boring in his lectures and does not explain properly. His notes aren't very helpful AT ALL. It feels like looking at gibberish when referring back into your notebook. He TRIES to make trick questions on midterms. Which is unfair. We are only there to learn and apply right.
