Prof. Slaysman definitely knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't do a good job of teaching it to you. We don't have exams, tests, or quizzes. There's no final. Our main grade is a persuasive essay. Easy 4 without much effort.

He is a great guy but his teaching style is not appropriate for lot of reasons due to the fact that he is all over the place and waits to grade everything at the end of the semester! He makes you work for your grades in the end!

His lectures were all over the place and sometimes hard to follow. If I had not taken AP Economics in high school, I don't think I would have understood anything. Nothing was graded until the last week of the semester. He was very hard to get in contact with-never answered emails & was never in his office during his scheduled office hours.

I took Slaysman for micro and macro, he teaches them different though. Micro you have to participate to pass, raise your hand and ask questions! He waits until the last week of the semester to grade all of the work, so you will have no idea what your grade is until the end. As long as you do the work and participate you will get a 4.0. No tests.

(Had him at HACC) I failed Macro with another professor and took it with him for my 2nd try. He cares about his students and when I told him this was my 2nd try he went out of his way to help me do well. Explains topics well although he dwells so reading is necessary to cover all topics. Tests can be easy and he sets you up to do well. Take him!!!

Very kind and caring man. You must show up. Fair grader. Somewhat scattered. Would recommend. You will learn if you listen, but if you don't listen you will still get a great grade.

I really liked Prof. Slaysman. Although he often cancelled class, he was very accessible. I approached him about my interest of economics outside of class and he connected me with a strong economist in York. He's very passionate in his lectures but could spend less time covering one concept

Takes attendance everyday. Barely use the textbook but need to buy the online code even though it's a waste of money. You need to post a lot on Google+ and write in your journals even if there is no prompts to get a good grade. Only 2 big papers, opening statements of your debates. Easy class he just takes off stupid points on responses.

Comment:
Professor Slaysman teaches his class very different there are no tests, but you must share articles and write journals weekly to do well in the class. There is a debate, but he grades it pretty easy. He does not explain the grading of the class very well, so you are confused on how you will be graded for the whole semester.

Slaysman is a very unorthodox professor but he uses that to his advantage. There are no tests in the class but there are many group projects and other activities that you will do in and out of class.

Thee worst professor i have ever had, not a consistent grader, cancels class way too much, spends 5 weeks on the same material, restating the same thing over and over again. I'm a junior and I've never been more upset with the performance of a professor, he should never have been given the opportunity to teach!

Unconventional Professor. Liberal in his approach, so if lectures and exams are your thing, STAY AWAY. Get "graded" on participation in multiple online mediums. Don't ask him to explain anything as he will spend the next 20 minutes stumbling through whatever he's talking about creating more confusion. Interesting character, to say the least.

Comment:
I can hardly even call him a professor. He understands the material he teaches at a minimal level then conveys it while tripping over his words and talking in circles. Not professional in his approach. All work is graded electronically, so buy the textbook although he says not to. Reading the text is the only way you will learn anything.
