A horrible professor. What he teaches in class and what is in the book is not what is on his exam. I have no idea where he gets the info for his exams but it is not from anything you do in class. He could care less about students or what grade they receive in his class. Take at your own risk

I would not advise anyone to take this class!! The professor does have knowledge of the subject matter, but I dont think his objective is to really help students "learn" with my experience he is not really helpful when he is asked a question about what to study for tests, or how to improve in the class. He is also not a nice person!

This guy really knows his stuff about the Middle East The problem is he expects you to be at the same level by the time you get the midterm and final During our so called review he just said know what i've discussed in class, and thats it. He was no help at all and really had a bad attitude towards students and talks down to everyone. NO NO NO

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I have never received anything but a B or an A in any course and barely pulled out a D. The class sounds interesting but take something else!

DO NOT TAKE! May sound interesting, but it's way harder than it should be. Test Q's are nit picky (with fill in the blank). Taught from an unbelievably liberal bias. I love Hist, am a minor, and have a 69 going into the final.

Blood Sweat and Tears are the requirement for this class. Do Not Take unless you have a previous knowledge of the Middle East. He knows his stuff, but not how to teach it. Bursted my behind and barely scraped a B. Woe be unto you if your phone makes just bearest little peep. I have seen people come out of this class crying

Dr. Perkins is a great guy, and he's extremely smart. He definitely knows what he teaches. Assignments can be pretty lengthy at times, and the tests are detailed, but if you take the notes he gives, then you can do ok in his class. Great teacher. don't take if you are lazy though, there is a lot of reading.

My wife and I took the class together 20 years ago and we did not last 30 minutes before he screamed at us to quit talking. I only asked her for a new pen, but Perkins did NOT care and we immediately dropped his class. He has very poor people skills and it was NOT worth the abuse. I now make 300K as a Middle Eastern security consultant.

Extremely knowledgeable without being smug - listens to all questions, comments, arguments without becoming critical. Witty - keeps your attention throughout the entire class.

Dr. Perkins is by far one of the best professors for your money. The class was pretty demanding with about 40 pages to read everynight and you better read becuase there are summation paragraphs to be submitted every week that account 10% of your grade. Two test each 30% with a 15-20 pg paper also 30%. You will learn a lot of interesting info.

Took this course as degree requirement but Perkins is really good; very interesting. Very tough too, tough tests, but fair. Pay attention to readings, as they will be on the test but not necessarily talked about in the class. Got a B, could have worked harder and done better. But he is fair.

I was not interested in taking this class but the subject was acutally very interesting. Dr. Perkins is very knowledgable about the ME, and teaches the history in a non-biased way. Though you have to work hard in this class a major research paper, 2 exams, long readings, you get out it what you put into it. Would not recommend for those who are laz

I loved the material personally, as a teacher tests are somewhat difficult espcially the final. I had a 90 going into the final and wound up with an 85 for the year. Make sure you do well on first test because its much easier then the second two. I would recomend only for majors or those with a special interest in the subject.

What an ass! I had him for islamic history. He really knows his stuff, but he is very biased in favor of islam, muslims can do no wrong in his eyes. Extremely arrogant. His tests are unbelievably difficult. I should have dropped.

This is the 2nd class I had with Dr. Perkins becuase he is such a GOOD professor. However, I went into the class knowing I would probably not get an A. (I got at B+) He requires a lot of reading and his tests are hard but he will help you in any way he can if you ask. He's extremely knowledgable on the subject. His papers are graded easy too.

He's clearly knowledgeable in his field, but never makes you feel stupid or ignorant. I highly recommend his classes, unless you're lazy or don't want to work. If you don't understand the material, just ask questions!!!
