Comment:
I don't know what everyone else is talking about Dr. Spackman being easy and helpful. He's very rude and demeaning...says there's no such thing as a stupid question yet makes you feel dumb as rocks for asking a question. If you answer a question wrong he basically humiliates you in front of the whole class. Worst teacher in the math department.

If you have to take higher-level math, take it with Dr. Spackman. He is the best math professor I have ever had. Explains everything completely and clearly. He is scatterbrained but very friendly. Homeworks are online and a little tricky but his tests are not too hard. I hate math but was able to get an A in his Calc 2 class. Definitely recommend.

Dr Spackman is the most enthusiastic professor I've yet had at UNCW. He is truly in love with math. The class is not overly hard but you learn many applications of abstract math to the real world. I wish he taught more upper level classes so I could take them as well.

I had Spackman for Calc II sophomore year, so I knew his Number Theory class wouldn't disappoint. His explanations were so good, I don't think I opened the textbook once. He assigns "suggested" homework (which he doesn't collect), but the mandatory homework is more than enough to learn the material. Tests were easy. Class was fun and interesting.

Fantastic professor. He's very enthusiastic about what he teaches and very funny. Make sure you go to class because teaching yourself from the book is a very poor substitute for Dr. Spackman's explanations.

AMAZING TEACHER. I cannot recommend him enough. He makes every concept clear, or keeps trying until everyone is satisfied. Grade generously and fair, but the tests are hard. No curve, but either has grade replacement or drops a grade. GO TO CLASS

Greatest math teacher I've ever had. He's enthusiastic about what he does, he's incredibly helpful, and he's a genius to boot. Usually the ultra-intelligent professors have a hard time conveying the material to students - not Dr. Spackman. I can't recommend him enough.

Dr. Spackman is the BEST math teacher ever. Very clear and organized. As long as you go over the study guides and understand all of the concepts that he lists, you will do fine!

Very enthusiastic teacher! Makes an otherwise challenging class a lot of fun. Very helpful and thorough. Must, must go to class to receive the best grade possible. He covers a lot of material each day and it's hard to catch up if you miss just 1 day (learned the hard way).

Looks and acts just like the tv show 'Mad Money'. He's just really excited about math instead of money. A great teacher though. Willing to help you in any way he can. Gives a lot of notes on handouts and good study guides for tests.

It's been a while - but he was the most incredible Calculus Prof I ever had. The superlatives do not exist to adequately describe his enthusiasm and ability. The material was not easy (is Calculus supposed to be?) but he could explain differential equations to a raccoon. If you ever have an opportunity, take his class.

MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR AT UNCW SO FAR! So enthusiastic and makes class very enjoyable. Brilliant and helpful, seriously, he won't stop showing how to solve something until the entire class understands it.
