He was very good at lecture. Great detail. Easy class. Just study when it's time for a test. I never studied for any of the quizzes and I never made anything lower than a 70%. He gives out a few extra credit opportunity. He also gives open note quizzes at end of class sometimes,he does it so he can give people a chance to redeem themselves

Do not take his class. He is a horrible professor. Horrible in everything. Do not take his class if u don't want to fail or get poor grade. Very tough test from him. Attendance is required, and also require u to take notes. Quizzes are given like almost every single class. Horrible at giving information too...

cut&dry. Brown gives reading quizzes every tuesday at the beginning of class for extra credit & the quiz that counts for grade is over his lecture that day with OPEN NOTE @ end of class. easy to do well on quizzes. he reviews for tests, 3tests and the compfinal. if you show up & are attentive he exempts you from comprehensive final. I RECOMMEND HIM

I had to drop early in the semester due to the difficulty of another class, however this class was so interesting! Read your books, do as he asks, attend classes and study for the daily quizzes (yes daily) but as long as you read the books you should do fine. He is funny, and an extremely intelligent professor. Take him and you will learn so much.

took 2 classes with him. Dr. Brown is an extremely nice man and he is very helpful. YES, he expects you to read, it's college. It's saddening to see people angry because a professor expects you to do work that you should be proud of. He has high expectations, but because he wants to push you to be a better student. Loved talking to him in general

He was all over the place during his lectures. I never knew if what he was saying was revelant to his test. No daily quizzes but he is going to reinstate them because we didnt read. As long as you study his id terms, essay question, and listen somewhat in class you will pass with atleast a B. Knew alot but was unorganized.

He's a great guy, really nice, but does come off as a little pompous. Be prepared to read until your eyes bleed, there were three texts for OK Hist. I probably would've enjoyed him more if I were more interested in the class. Read, study, show up, and you'll be fine.

You better make it to class. Attendance is mandatory and part of your grade. It's not always easy to make it everyday with a full-time job and family, but he will tell you the first day you shouldn't expect to work AND go to school. Guess what bud, I don't have a free ride.

This class is not the easiest class ever so don't take if your looking for an easy grade. There are 3 books for class and lots of reading. He stress heavily on two readings reports so be read for them if you take this class.

Dr. Brown is a really good teacher if you dont care about his opinionated nature. Me and my friend almost had to bring stress balls to class because of things he would say that had nothing to do with history. The test are fairly hard but as long as you read the book you will do just fine.

I hated this class, mainly due to the subject. Its not easy, you have to show up every day, take notes, and read the book very detailed. He is a nice man, loves history and knows alot about it, but is horrible at presenting the info.

I'm amazed at the feedback. You mean you have to read. YES, you have to read...it's called college. Why would someone critique the prof. for making you read the material. If you want an easy A then don't take the class. If you are a History major you need to take his class and establish a relationship with him. Good prof. with alot of knowledge.

He tends to have a lot of side stories in with his lectures and expects you to be writing notes all hour, never should you look up. His tests are a bit tough and he grades a lot on the essay part of them. He'll tell you whats to be on test but even that does't guarantee you'll pass them due to the essay. He's a good guy just really really tough to follow in class.

This guy is a horrible teacher. His lectures are all over the place. By that I mean that he doesn't teach in historical order. He bounces from 1865 to 1776 and expects you to have orderly notes somehow. He also seems to expect you to hang on everything he says and just know what to write down. He is also very opinionated.

This was not just a blow-off class. I had to study rather furiously before each test to make the decent grades that I did. His tests come directly from lectures and the book (the book is extremely dull). Attendance is required because there is a daily quiz grade. Overall, he was a very good teacher and I would recommend him if you want to lear

He is a good teacher but the class is difficult. No notes. Daily 5 pt. quizzes, but if one of the two people he calls on answer correctly, everyone gets a 100. (happens a lot)YOU MUST read the book to get an A, it's possible. Just read and work!

It wasn't a horrible class, but the text book was written in the seventies, and he gives mandatory reading assignments daily then quizzes over them the next day. After you have done all the reading and learned everything for the quiz, he changes half of what you have to know for exams because it has changed since the book was written.
