Comment:

Dr. Binfield assigns a lot of reading and you will spend most of class discussing it. He does go off on tangents often, but they're interesting/funny to listen to. He cracks jokes a lot too, but they went over most of our heads. He's strict on his no technology policy; he WILL ask you to leave class if he sees a phone or laptop out during lecture.

I had him For Honors Literature and Philosophy 1, LOVED IT, as long as you showed up to class and actively discussed the readings you would pass (we often would have several side conversations that had nothing to do with the reading but ultimately had a point). Very few quizzes, minimal writing assignments. Very fun class.

He is very spastic and does not stay on track. You won't learn anything in that class and it's an honors class. It's a waste of your time and money. If you want to talk about a zombie apocalypse or other random things then maybe this is the class for you. If you want to learn how to write papers and get good feedback, don't take this class.

Took both his Humanities and Gender Studies classes...loved them. He is very personable and likes feedback from the class. Hilarious guy who respects those who attend his class...and they get rewarded for it later...through the final grade.

I had him for Lit Crit and he was terrible. Rambled and didn't teach anything useful to the course. Judgmental of students. He made 1 paper out whole grade and didn't explain it or help students when they asked for it. DONT'T take him unless you absolutely have to!

Binfield is completely out of touch with reality. Ended up withdrawing from summer class. Students are paying to take this class, and he ran off to Eurpoe for a week, and failed to tell us this at the beinging of the class. Does not give you feedback on how you are doing in the course, and left all tests/papers to the last week of class.

Dr. Binfield was awesome, but took a little while to get used to. He's a little scattered-but in an organized way. He's kind of liberal, so if you don't like that I would stay away. I got an A, and thought the tests were easy-but there's only 2 tests, 1 paper and the final, so not much recovery room if you bomb one.

Not really what I expected out of a HUM teacher. He was very enthusiastic about class and always had interesting topics to discuss. He made you think outside your box; however, he was a little difficult (espcially with his test and final exam). The final exam was worth a HUGE portion of the grade which made it very stressful for students.

He is enthusiastic in the extreme. When he lectures he's really smart and interesting and is always open about his opinions but he encourages students to question them and argue to support their own opinions. He's not easy but he's the best professor I had, but leave your cell turned off!

Dr. Binfield is genuinely concerned about his students learning something. His class is very interesting and intellectually challenging. Dr. Binfield is also very hot, so you will want to be in class every day.
