Comment:

He clearly doesn't prepare for class and does bare minimum. His rehearsal technique is what not to do 101. Never criticizes anything specific, even when ensemble errors are glaring. He just runs through pieces start to finish and lets you leave after 20 minutes. It's just disappointing because it's obvious he can do better and chooses not to.

I would not take "world music" online if you don't have to with this professor. Not only is he a hard grader, but he expects way too much. For example, he made us do introduction posts and following his rubric, I still got a 3/5. He expects too much from a simple discussion post and I hate this class already.

Picks bad music, shows up late, and is sometimes really rude. He's a friendly guy overall, but the class is such a joke. If you need the fine arts credit, it's worth taking. You can usually get away with skipping. If you're looking to enhance your music skills, avoid him at all costs. He'll kill your dreams and hopes of being a musician.

I couldn't stand him. He was incredibly rude and didn't know what he was doing. He sits during class and doesn't conduct well. After a year and a half of being in his class, he still didn't know my name and didn't respect me enough to listen to me when I was correcting him. I would've loved to continue band, but he is the reason that I didn't.

Worst professor ever. I love music more than words can describe and he almost killed that. So many people have left the program because he is such a lazy, rude, unprofessional moron. He's right, your wrong, just because he thinks he's a professor. Honestly, why Green Bay wants to keep him to kill their music program is beyond me.

Can honestly say he is the worst teacher I have ever had. He always chooses the same kind of music. He doesn't push his students and doesn't set a good example. He supposedly plays the trombone but have never heard a note from him. And even though he likes to be called Dr. Collins, he does NOT have his doctorate!

GB was 4.5 years of my life wasted. Collins is a stuck up jerk. He is never clear, he can't conduct, and he puts you down as much as he can. He told me that I wouldn't make it as a trumpet player, and forced me out of the performance program. I am no attending UMN as a Grad student gettingmy MM in Trumpet performance K. Collins = nightmare

I've had him for lessons, band, and others. Disorganized, lacks motivation, is consistently late, unprofessional, and oblivious to students. Band music is insulting. Rehearsals are completely unproductive. Talks down to students. Runs on logical traps, smoke, and mirrors. Good w/ philosophy. Compared to equivalents in UW systems, he's a joke.

Prof. Colllins is an awesome band director. I cant believe his low ratings. He really gets his bands to play alot better than when the first start new material. He does tell long stories and uses strange analogies, but they all relate and help you understand what he's trying to convey. If you want to be a better musician, listen to him.

Lots of students misunderstand Professor Collins' approach to music education. I think that much can be learned from his unique teaching strategies. After witnessing music educators teaching with no passion for music, I can now appreciate how he taught Wind Ensemble.

He doesn't teach music. He teaches nothing while spending the entire 2 hours talking about his kids or when he was young. Choice in music is horrid to the extreme. Students, observers, and even other faculty members find his choice in music to be awful.
