Comment:

Kevin Gannon is a Saint. Anyone that says otherwise is clueless. Taking his online Space Exploration class and the tests are difficult, the labs are long. However, Gannon allows late submission with NO penalty. Responds fast to email's and very understanding. Highly recommend.

His class is ridiculously slow. He might get through 2 problems the entire class period, and almost always goes over the time. He also likes to compare the class to things at RPI, but he's often wrong in the information he gives about it.

Comment:

Gannon is sweet and older. Very interested in what he does. Can talk in circles a bit when you ask him a question, which can be nice so you figure out the answer yourself. He is a pretty tough grader on exams but the curves are nice. His lab write ups can be really timely if you want the good grade on them.

He does know his material well and is a good teacher - but class can sometimes be painfully slow. He frequently goes over class time, as well. Another frequent behavior is making fun of other majors - as there is no Physics major at St.Rose, he's making fun of the entire class. His history is a bit off, as well.

Does two questions per class at most. A little slow and tedious his classes are but it does help you learn the physics. His tests are pretty fair and for lab he lets you redo the labs which is nice.

I took him for astronomy. I thought he was a great guy, understanding, fair and very easy. He explained things very clearly and took his time. He almost went too slow i would have liked to cover more material.

This guy made astronomy interesting. He is so smart and knows a lot about his subject. Lectures could be a little dry but were always clear. His monotone made it hard to tell when he was joking but he obviously does have a sense of humor. Quizzes are hard but he curves them.

I was intimidated walking into Kevin's class because I am NOT a science person. He knew that the subject matter was a little difficult, and he actually treated us like a 100-level course. Curved all of the tests and quizzes, and gave you credit on homework as long as you tried.

I took Kevin's class back in 1989 and the description most folks here give him is accurate. VERY knowledgeable in his subject matter, a bit intimidating to talk to because of his emotionless expression, but a man whom I've always respected and motivated me to do my best in his class.
