Comment:
Kevin is definitely the worst professor I have had in the biochemistry department. His expectations are very unclear, and his exam questions are on extremely obscure topics - some of which are not explicitly discussed in class. Overall, a very disappointing professor and class. The good news is that the TAs are AMAZING. Go to their office hour

NO BOOK USE, all lecture from powerpoints with little info, they are mostly pictures. His lecture style is ok, and he tries hard to help the students out and willing to bump your grade if you show youre trying. Class is extremely hard, all on theory with no application since there is no lab. 4 tests, 4 homework assignments, no cumulative test.

Never been in a more boring class. You have to learn everything from outside info. Terrible style. Designs arbitrary answer keys that test random info. No original slides (everything from other lecturers at other schools found on Google). Nothing is transferrable or lab-applicable without major outside training.

Lectures are unclear with page numbers for the textbook normally wrong, example problems that often have an incorrect answer, and are at a level way above undergraduates abilities. Pointless to go to class because you will have to "learn"(and by learn I mean memorize equations) on your own, but he takes attendance. Hope you like derivations!

Totally unengaging. Lectures are a waste of your time and his. The notes are pretty good, though, and you'll do well provided you take the time to sit down and memorize EVERYTHING in them.

He is uninteractive and extacly knows how to bore you for the whole period of the class, for the whole length of the semester. All he does read his uninviting notes to the classes with amazing boring tone. But, exam are not that hard as long as you do all the examples he gives in his notes.

Comment:
No equations are given on the test, which is ridiculous considering how detailed they are. Organization is not present in any of his lectures and he is by far the least engaging professor I have ever had in four years at this university. You'll quickly realize that lectures are a waste of everybody's time including his own.

Along with Dr. Matsuo, probably the worst professor I have ever had in my entire college career. Unlike many of my peers, I actually did WELL in this class. That being said, I owe none of my success to Dr. Mayo's teaching skills (or lack thereof). Rely on the textbook, my friends, because otherwise you have no hope.

One of the worst professors I have ever had in my college career. I recommend avoiding him at all costs. I am a Biochem major, and I am RE-TAKING this class. He offers no lecture notes to make up for his scrambled, incoherent lectures. He does not post exam keys, so I still have no idea WHY I got things wrong. A horrible professor all around. Sigh.

I don't like him at all. I had to rely most of the time from the most confusing text book ever. He gave us some problem on the test that he never touched on before and said we should know it from 10 years ago. His tests aren't as horrible but you have to read the text most of the time.

Not THAT bad. He's not very clear, but his tests come almost directly from his notes. Use the textbook to clarify the details of the things he talks about, but as said, his tests come directly from the notes and are pretty straight forward for the most part. So, take good notes and you're good to go. Dry humor makes for not too boring lecture.

Sooo boring. He just drones on in his sleep-inducing voice, and the material is completely unclear. Often seems like he doesn't really know what he is talking about, and goes fast to get theough it so that we don't notice. The only way I learned anything was directly from the book. Tests are difficult, but mostly straight memorization.

Completely uninterested in students. Won't help if there is an illness or, in my case, an interview for medical school that interferes with his precious class. His lectures are completely unhelpful. Most of the lecture involves writing random words on the board. Exams are very difficult and test inane facts (what certain acronyms stand for, etc)

Teaching is a low priority for him. It appears that he couldn't care less about the students.
