Comment:

This class was pretty easy, I learned a lot about the history and importance of music in films. I didn't realize prior to this class how much the music adds to the film. However said this class was hard or there was too much homework must have troubles in all classes they attend, this was one of the easiest classes I have taken.

Professor Mayse is a fair grader and the course work is reasonable. I recommend this class to students who are willing to sacrifice lecture on campus. This was my first online course and I had a very positive experience.

This is a very fast-paced class with a lot of reading! (it was a 6-week session, so it's understandable) However, the readings are interesting and that assignments are fair. Quizzes are very detailed and exams sometimes seem to not have enough time. Overall, a great class that I do recommend! Do your work, keep up, and you'll be just fine!

Prof. Mayse was very organized and fair. In the middle of taking one of my quizzes my laptop shuts down on me, I start to freak out so i email Prof. Mayse explaining what happened. He was able to reset my quiz :) He also grades really easy.

I can't stand this professor. I am in his online Music 26 course. He tries to make the class more difficult than in actually is and the result is a stupid amount of busy work. He is unorganized and is late to make assignments available. He may be better in person, but his online "teaching" sucks.

dont miss a class, he is very hard on people and especially section leaders, i was a section leader and he demanded perfection, even though you play the right notes and with musicality if the other players in the section were bad you are held responsible. i used to leave rehearsals crying to my car in the parking lot. he isn't patient, bad temper

DO NOT TAKE THIS ONLINE CLASS. Online electives should not be as difficult as he made this class. There were so many quizzes that were nearly impossible to do well on and the tests as well. He grades his stuff as if he doesn't want you to get an A. I took this class because music is a passion of mine and it was a huge mistake.

This class is easy, but its all self taught. Professor Mayse seems like a nice person, but there was very little communication with him involved, he is clear with assignments though. But If you have any questions you're pretty much out of luck. Overall the class was enjoyable, fun and interesting. I recommend taking if you have the self discipline.

I took his accelerated online film music appreciation class and had to drop with only two weeks left of the semester. His tests are full of useless questions from the book and his essay questions are even more useless. He doesn't update grades and you will be in the dark about your grade until the very end of the semester.

The assignments are manageable as long as you stay on top of everything. His quizzes and test are full of useless questions. There are 7 quizzes for 7 lessons but the quizzes do not match info for the lesson. The quizzes may cover previous lessons. His test have 3 essay questions with 30 mult-choice 45 minutes not enough time!

His grading system is unclear. My essay responses always had multiple citations, yet I always had points marked. There never seemed to be any rhyme or reason; sometimes it was 6 points, other times 2 or 3. When I asked for clarification he simply said "More information." The content is simple but inconsistent grading makes it a difficult class.

I took this class online and it was a piece of cake. He grades really easy and the assignments are simple. Don't let the work pile up and you'll pass, easily. How many times can I say easy? It is also a really interesting class. Recommended.

Mr. Mayse is a great conductor. Very precise and clear. Music is a bit challenging. I love going to orchestra practice! He is also very funny and sometimes tells stories about his daughter and events he has been in.
