The only real grades are papers. If you pay attention in class you'll be good. Movies are great, lectures are boring, but interesting. You won't find interesting lectures like his in any other philosophy class. You can scrape by not reading, but the textbook is not necessary because the reading that you do can be found as a PDF on Google.

Discussions are interesting and mind opening if you can pay attention. He knows what he is talking about and constructs his points in the lecture VERY well. BUT his voice is like a lullaby. Coffee is a must. A must. Super sweet cute old man though, looks like Andy Warhol.

I enjoyed his class, although he does drone on sometimes. The work load is reasonable but it can be hard to stretch out a paper on the topic given. My tests were not open book; however I didn't find them difficult. If you read the material and (you will need to read it for every class) you'll be ok. Nice guy, cute in Keebler Elf kind of way.
