Kirk is one of the best professors I've ever had. Not only is he incredibly good humored, but he genuinely cares about his classes and the subjects he's teaching. He also replaced the professor I had for Greek and Roman Epics, and it's because he did that I ended being a classics major. Definitely take a class with Kirk if you can.

Kirk is a wonderful professor and person! Although it is highly academic and idiosyncratic at times, I find his sense of humor marvelous. In addition to being a formidable and highly accomplished intellect, he is extremely open to students and extraordinarily fun and exciting in the classroom setting. I already love his material, but great for all!

If you do not take a class with Kirk before you leave Oberlin, it will be one of the biggest mistakes of your college career. He makes you passionate about the material because of how passionate he is, and is so helpful with feedback on essays. Very approachable and sweet guy, I wish I could take all my classes with him

Kirk Ormand 4 Prez. No seriously, this guy is the man, he manages to make really boring subject matter interesting and has a lot of passion for Greek History. By the end of the course you really feel like you're an expert and he gives really good feedback for papers. For exams he is very helpful in advance and they're not as hard as you would think

Kirk is a wonderful fellow. He's awfully comedic and his comfortability with subject matter shows in his lectures and makes for a relaxed class setting. Aside from his clarity and insightfulness in class, he gives phenomenal feedback on papers. A few emotional responses (e.g. tears) while lecturing showed his passion for "HIstory of Greece!"

Best professor I've had at Oberlin, and one of the funniest and most lovable people I know. His feedback on papers is fantastic, and though he is a tough grader he clearly respects students' ideas and wants to be useful in developing them. Take a class of his! Please!

This was my first college class (I'm in the Con). I took the class because I've loved reading Greek/Roman myths since I was a kid, and Ormand made this class so entertaining! You get out of it as much as you want to...Kirk uses so much wit and humor. Definitely will take more classes with him :)

As much as I loved Kirk's personality, I hated the way he graded. He told me, in so many words, that it's hard NOT to get a B in his class because that's about all he gives. He told me my papers were well-argued, but he disagreed with the interpretations, so I couldn't get an A for the life of me.

He's fantastic. Take a class with him - if you can! They always seem to be full. In regards to the one negative rating he got, Classics 100 doesn't exist anymore, and when it did, he didn't teach it, TVN did. This person was clearly confused.
