Comment:
Prof. Dubin is very nice, but for a writing course, it's very restricted. Creativity is not here; prepare to change your work to suit her needs. That's the biggest issue. Not very "open" to everything. Claims to be, but is not. If you don't show you won't pass. She thinks there's a "map" to great Playwriting, but I don't see her "map" in her work

If you don't mind changing your work to suit the professor'sclass's opinions, then by all means take these courses. Emphasis is placed on plot over character and storyline over development - so simpler, comedic pieces do best here. But if you can't fight tooth-and-nail for an entire semester to keep your creative opinions, avoid at all costs.

Great workshop with a smart, successful writer! It flexed my critical muscles and helped me focus on structure. I did not learn a lot that I didn't already know, but Kitty's class helped drive me to create more work and stay focused. Would like to see her address creating the unconventional, not just traditional forms.

Comment:
She's a mediocre writer (even worse teacher) and shameless about promoting herself in class. Unable to deal with view points different from her own. Grades are arbitrary, largely based on altering content to fit her tastes, not personal growth or technical prowess. This class is great as a forum to have your work read, but don't expect much else.

This woman is so unfair when it comes to grading. She will make a mockery of your play if she finds it terrible. She also plays favorites with those who already have playwriting experience. Avoid this woman at all costs! She needs to retire and fast!

She knows here stuff! She has been a playwright for a long time and you see that in the class. She will go over your plays with you to help you become a better writer. If you dont know what a play is or havent been to one, then go do that because if not you'll end up writting crap. Over-all Awesome Professor
