Great lecturer! Took his latin american course and does a great job making the content interesting. There are only three exams and three quizzes and they're all based off the lectures AND readings. There is A LOT of reading and information that he covers in class. The exams and quizzes are all essay based. Loved him, but wouldn't take it again.

Fantastic Lecturer, funny guy, respected and knows his topic, but extremely difficult blue book exams. Exams are extremely content heavy, with no study guides, and way too little time given. Also, uneven grading. Great Teacher, but be prepared to work.

He's an incredibly interesting prof but a very very tough grader. The exams and quizzes are all short answer or essay and he want verbatim answers or you'll get graded harshly. That being said, you will learn a lot from this class as he's a very interesting lecturer but it most probably will kill your GPA.

Your grade is dependent on you writing down what he says in lecture verbatim. If it is not verbatim, then you don't get any credit. The average on his quizzes and tests are so low that even with a 20-30 point curve, it's in the low 70s. He just tells you to ask questions to the TAs and the TAs are unhelpful. Don't take him if you can help it.

Intnl Politics of US + LA: Weyland knows what he is talking about and genuinely wants students to participate. Get ready to read about 100 pages a week and DO NOT FALL BEHIND! THERE IS IS NO CATCHING UP! If you don't read, you won't pass. The content is interesting and Weyland is a good lecturer but is sometimes too comfortable with students...

Kurt is one of the most caring professors you can have. His lectures are amazing and he encourages student participation every class. However, his course is extremely reading heavy. His exams are hard to study for because there is no review sheet, but if you make a study group, it can be very enjoyable. You will learn A LOT in this course.

This professor requires students to buy and read several textbooks and does not refer to them in class almost at all. His lectures consist of him talking quickly and expecting students to absorb all the information he presents (without notes provided). His exams require specific answers without asking specific questions. His exams/quizzes are hard.

This class was definitely one of my favorites! He was super entertaining and overall the coursework wasn't hard (especially since he gives HUGE curves). I did about half of the readings and showed up to most of the lectures and paid attention and ended up with a 99 in the class. All the exams and quizzes are essays though.

You can read all of the required readings, attend all the lectures, and take detailed notes and you will still struggle on his quizzes and tests. He is a good lecturer, but don't expect to come away with a good grade in his class. His TA's are also super hard to impress with quizzes and tests. They never give higher than an B to anyone

There are 3 quizzes and 3 exams. I never did any of the readings and still scored high on all of them. He also gives 8-15 extra points each exam or quiz. Lectures are pretty interesting, and I thought the topic was interesting as well.

Long readings, but relevant to lecture. Uses 4 books - read them all! No final, but exams and quizzes are difficult in that they are all free-response - no multiple choice. Three of each, and they are each done during one lecture. Very entertaining lecturer, very helpful, but difficult grades. Don't put off this class. He has clear expectations.

He is a very entertaining lecturer, one of the best. Extremely high amount of readings. His tests quizzes are challenging and made much more difficult by the time limits. His class requires/deserves a lot of attention.

Professor Weyland is a strong lecturer, and gives insightful points about the dense and numerous readings he assigns. The tests/quizzes however are incredibly difficult to study for, and tough to do well on.

Professor Weyland was an amazing teacher, enthusiastic, hilarious and German! Coming into the class with little knowledge about Latin American Politics, it became one of my favourite classes! There is a lot of reading, but it is useful for the essay. If you make notes during semester the quizzes/exams are super easy! DO IT.

He's absolutely amazing! He makes a potentially dull topic very interesting. His excitement makes it even more enjoyable. Tests and quizzes are all short answer/essay, but they aren't too hard if you go to class and read the assigned readings. Going to class is really key, especially because his lectures are very ordered and notes are easy to take.

Professor Weyland is an incredibly enthusiastic professor. He really makes the material interesting and his accent is pretty funny, but understandable. I recommend going to class every day, and it shouldn't be too hard if you do the readings. It can be a good amount of work. Only essays for tests and quizzes.

I highly recommend this class. There is a lot of reading if you want feel extra secure of the material, but I didn't read for the last half of the class, went to all the classes, and made an A. Go to classes! Not only will it make the tests and quizzes more manageable, Prof. Weyland is funny too. His accent is great!
