I have taken two classes with Dr. Pearson and would honestly take another one. She teaches the class so you're engaged the whole time even if the material is slightly boring. She definitely makes you work for an A, but is very clear on what she wants. Hard grader on essays and responses but gives you opportunities to make them up.

Kyra is so sweet and caring, she'll always work with you and meet you half way. Primetime Crime was super interesting but had a huge mid-term and final, final paper, and 3 other papers throughout the semester. A lot of work but she's awesome and facilitates great class discussions. She's great.

One of my favorite teachers at LMU. She is beyond sweet, very delightful to be around, and encourages you to think outside the box. Assignments gives you a greater appreciation for what she talks about in class.

She is a pretty typical teacher. She has clear guidelines for papers but really is not that tough of a grader. The class is lecture-based and is really interesting. She is a very friendly professor and all around nice woman. Recommend taking her.

Don't take her! She is a super sweet lady & means well but her class is verbatim what is in the 'textbook.' She makes each student PURCHASE a bounded booklet of articles (when they could just be posted online?), and she is SUPER STRICT about following her 'rubric' for grading. Didn't learn much and was disappointed at her lack of knowledge.

Dr. Pearson is a good professor. The class is engaging and you will learn a lot from her. Don't slack and show up. She will ream your papers and give you awful grades until you do exactly what she wants (which sometimes isn't clear, even with a rubric), so go to her office hours and talk to her. You will *probably* improve from there.

Dr. Pearson is an incredibly thoughtful professor. She cares so much about social justice and what she she teaches. She is very nice and encouraging and always listens to what her students have to say. There are several papers, and she grades fairly. Her instructions are very clear. Two exams, they are easy if you study! Take her!!

She makes you buy this massive book with a ton of articles in it for about $50 when all of the articles are actually available for free online. You also maybe read 7 of the articles out of the 40 that are in the book. Huge waste of money. Other than that she's cool but always keeps the class past the end of class time.

She is incredibly thoughtful in the way she speaks - she never says anything without first thinking about what she is going to say, so that nobody is ever offended or upset, and you always respect and appreciate what she has to say. Soft spoken and gentle, you can tell she really cares about you and what you have to say. I'm proud to know her.

She is AMAZING! I've taken her 352 and Crime and Punishment class and wish I could take another with her. She is so sweet and really engages the class with the readings. There a few shorts papers due, but nothing a communications major couldn't accomplish. Totally recommend her!

This class in general is hard, but with Kyra she splits it up so it isn't too overwhelming. Overall, you need to work hard in the class but we only had one easy exam, the 3 paper installments, and the final paper. Definitely utilize her office hours for clarification on the paper! I suggest taking her, she makes this class bearable

Kyra is a great professor and makes the course very interesting by applying the readings to television shows, movies, and music videos watched in class. Everyone is pretty engaged and she facilitates an environment where all students feel comfortable brainstorming. The material is very interesting and will impact you beyond your time in class.

Gender, sexuality and the media was actually a really interesting class. assigned readings for each week, but you can get away with not really doing them. alot of class time is spent watching tv and movies too. just two 1 page papers, miterm and final. pretty chill

Intro to public speaking was one of my favorite classes. She is such a great teacher and she is soooo nice. She understands that you are a student and grades really easily. If you can't talk in public it's ok, she'll let you do it just in front of her. TAKE HER!
